My Green School

If you were to ask me to market a school, I will market my own school. I mean, the school where I am working. Once reason for that is because it is a green school. Probably the people’s mind in here are green too (Sometimes!).

It doesn’t go without saying that when you’re at a school that you wholeheartedly market your own school. Some would complain about where they are working especially when we’re talking about salaries. But for me, I like our school and that I would recommend students to study here.

I am currently here at the school because we needed to come here to upload grades of students. We do lessons and consultations online but we upload grades here. We come here and we go to the designated room in order to upload students’ grades. I am here at the faculty room because I am waiting for more papers to be submitted. Last chance for students who really wait for the final hours before submitting (sigh). I think they wanted to make our job very tough. Hehe. Because if not, why would they wait for the last minutes before passing? Right? I just really hope that they do pass earlier so I have an hour to check and give appropriate sanctions for their late papers. Though I rarely give sanctions. I make my work easier during this pandemic. But it is still hard. That is to be expected. I just feel thankful that I still have a job. Though we don’t settle for mediocrity. Ideally, speaking.

My school is literally green. You see green everywhere when you are inside. The paintings are green, the chairs are green, and the walls are green. Green green green. Not really totally green but most things you see are green.

Also, they never fail to clean every day. I think they clean every hour or say, when needed. My chair, table and things are clean when I come here after how many weeks. The comfort room? I say you could eat there! You also rarely smell anything when inside the CR after janitors clean. They use a lot of cleaning materials that you wonder how much their salary is. I have not tried asking but I bet their pay here is decent for the non-teaching staff.

We, employees, are oriented to be kind and passionate to our clients, the students, and so the janitors and workers from the canteen are also very pleasant to everyone.

Of course, there are a lot to complain about. That is part of everything but when you look fairly, you have more to be thankful for here than to complain about. I say that my salary as a teacher is modest but at least that it is beyond the minimum. It’s up to us now if we wanted to put it to good use or not. It just so happened that I have had a lot of bad decisions so I am still recovering from financial losses.

Overall, this green school is recommendable. Just sometimes, it is us people who determine the reputation of the school if we adhere to the vision and mission. Especially employees.

We do cost-cutting here. Like, when no one is around we turn the lights off. We unplug wires and everything that are not being used. We don’t drink softies during seminars or conferences. We do well with only water as beverage. Well, we do have coffee and juices sometimes but not coke and the like.

I just wonder why our faculty room is way up high here at the 7th floor where I am typing right now. Maybe they have a good reason but I didn’t ask or inquired about it anymore. Not point asking. I just take advantage of it by setting it as my exercise goal. I walk from the basement up to here. I walk from here to the basement and to the other buildings of our school. These buildings are interconnected and you don’t have to go outside to transfer to another building. We have another campus and that is the only time that you go out if you wanted to go there.

Our green school is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Could you guess where our school is? Hehe. A clue would be, before coming here, I passed by people, who were having zumba, at a known park. Our school is just nearby. The others were doing jump ropes while many are jogging and running. The time this morning when I passed by, before 8 am so no one was biking.
