At the end of the day, what matters is not really fame but peace of mind.
You go out looking your best. You even put on lines to your eyes, to your lips and even to your nose. You wanted to look fabulous. You wanted to be impressive. You search for that expensive ring and you put it on.
Wow! You indeed look great!
You go on your way out of the house. You feel some pride for looking good. You feel proud of being beautiful. You wanted to show off how you made yourself up.
You arrived at your destination. You wanted to be an important person. You chat with your friends. Or to your boyfriend. Or to your girlfriend. Or to your colleagues. You have your confidence. You have light in your eyes. You look normal.
As the day progresses, you go about the things you do whether they are routine or special activities or just something you do during the day.
Afternoon comes… the clouds start to form. It may or may not rain. Clouds may form or not but it would still be dark in a short while.
Night time comes. It’s time for dinner. You take your dinner. You then fix your utensils or let your house helpers do the chore if you ever have such people in your house. Then what would be next after dinner maybe attending to the kids or a me-time or whatever.
You now finally retire for the day…
How are you? Do you feel contented? Do you still feel proud of yourself for the day? What do you think of?
Some would finally go back to their self and think about all their problems. Money, loans, responsibilities unfulfilled, broken promises, etc. etc.
Did your great figure solve your money problems? Did your expensive ring lessened your loans? Did you eat your beauty? Were you able feel proud about yourself now that no one is looking?
Or are you now depressed because the sun is down? Sleep, can you?
Sometimes, what matters more is not our outward look but our inner peace. It’s possible to look good and have peace of mind but we have to prioritize first seeking help for our inner peace. It’s a vanity to make yourself up when inside you are in great depression.
Keep it a point to prioritize integrity over popularity. In being meek and humble you’ll be able to have true confidence. Always remind yourself that boasting and focusing on the outside aspect will lead you nowhere. It will just spark hostility between you and the others who are affected.
Hmmm… erase erase erase.
Anyway, I didn’t know what got into me that I haven’t published anything yet. Oh well, I now know it. it was because I finished some of my requirements. This is the first time in consecutive days that I am writing only in the afternoon. But well, I am still here and that’s what’s most important.
The thought above came to me because I used to focus more on the outside appearance rather that developing some sort of integrity. As years passed, I began to realize that I needed to focus more on my authenticity than fickle things that will just break and vanish in an instant.
When you have integrity and authenticity, at least you can sustain your life true values. Rather than focusing on pleasing other people and living a life for them.
We have our life. We know our capacities. We know what we can do. We know what we needed in order for our lives to be fixed. I mean, at least we know how we feel. We can find ways to heal our inner wounds. When we focus more on what’s best inside the house, your family will prosper. Prioritize your family. Attend to the needs of the members of the family. Make sure you prepare grocery for the house, the water supply, the improvement of the house so you may live better.
Because at the end of the day, what matters more will not be what the others are thinking about you but if you brought some food for the family or not. It’s much better going out unnoticed and bringing home food at the end of the day, than to go out in a flashy suit but come home broke and depressed.
Okay… articles not that good. I’ll try to come up with better analogy and better presentation!
