Today it's the last day of our "holiday". A holiday which started with no school, homeschooling something which is not allowed where I live. Suddenly the teachers, schools needed to be flexible and they complained. Weird if you take into consideration how long I am teaching, homeschooling my children. Children the teachers said are not able to learn, too stupid to learn. It sounds familiar to me. It was what the principal said about me. I was too stupid to learn, wouldn't even make it through housekeeping school. How wrong that man with his beer belly was. He ended up divorced in a small trailer while I studied, developed myself year after year. While he turned into a person not able to teach, this nobody proved she can teach her children. Children teachers looked down upon. " I feel pity for you having these children", a principal said. Pity? I felt pity for her she had no idea how their minds function.
Lazy teachers who can hardly write and count are in charge. These are the last kind of people you would hire to teach your children. Let me tell you this: each one of my children turned out not to be stupid, to have a high IQ. Schools have no experience with these children, people who think differently and learn in a different way. Being stupid doesn't make a teacher feel insecure but the fact the children they teach are more intelligent and do not believe each word told. Children who are not interested in shouting, bullying, and want to be left alone, in peace are making them feel insecure because they are different.
As a parent, I didn't buy the nonsense teachers said and I am happy I did not, glad I invested in them myself because I am the one who knows what they are capable of. That's why I fight stereotype teachers and the stereotype way of teaching and support creativity. Creativity is the key to everything. Thinking outside the box.
Tomorrow it's back to school again. My youngest two, my last children, will visit a school in the city. I will drive them on their first day and wait till school is finished whenever that may be. Apparently, it's still too much ask from teachers to inform parents/students about their schedule, the first day at a new school. I hope homeschooling will be the new norm. It will do children like mine good, do introverts and sensible children good. Let the bullies bully each other. As a parent, I noticed decades ago school is no longer the place where teachers teach children but the place that gives children 5 inches of homework and directs parents to do their job next to their own. Let's hope I wake up at 5 am.
When it takes schools effort to actually motivate a child, something the education system in general doesn't or knows how to, then that child is "stupid".
