Pet lion?
Shall we celebrate tomorrow, I asked.
There are presents to unwrap although our birthdays are over. My daughter agreed, that for the next 4 days (should say nights) she's not working. If you work at night you sleep at daytime. She said she doesn't think she can sleep in my bed because there's way more noise from the traffic passing by. So far it doesn't keep me out of my sleep. The only person who does is the joyrider who starts his fun around 2 a.m. It must be a great feeling to make a racing circuit out of finally sleeping roads in the centre of a village. A nobody at home and at times plays the master of the roads. My guess is the people are used to him since no one calls the police. They might once something goes wrong, the kind of wrong that personally affects them, a hit and run for example. Not that there's much chance the police will drop by if you lay on the streets, hit by a car with your phone glued to your ear. Those times when the police were your best friend and always near are over. The police reorganized. They are no longer present where needed and if the emergency number is called a voice announces he puts you on hold or tells you it is not urgent.
So if this was America and we the people had a shotgun and were waiting at our windows for that joyrider to shoot him down to have our rest and peace there's a good chance the police will not arrive or if not fast.
The village is more about fake and keeping up appearances. We already live in different parts. The elderly, those close to poverty, the imported, fake refugees, the hard workers, the sick, disabled and for sure the few rich. Rich people you found everywhere and it's a myth each one of them works hard. It's a fairy tale they do not exist, are philanthropists and feel empathy for those who can not meet their life standards. Those who give do so for their own benefit. It benefits them if it comes to paying taxes and it is a free advertisement of themselves. It is not about you, your dreams, a better life but control.
No sane wealthy person likes to share his neighbourhood, the streets, or his view with 'dirty poverty'. They won't blink if they find a way to get rid of you, they can hit and run, and their lives are a joyride with the police at their side. Police are not for the people who pay them but are available to those who they fear most.
Money is still an attractive thing even though it won't exist any longer soon. In the next year, all banks should provide their clients with a CBDC wallet. Generations will grow up with numbers on a screen. Cash will no longer exist. They pay with their phone or watch like I saw a lady do two days ago in a shop.
We all will receive some numbers with a certain value. Some numbers meant to buy bread and water, some numbers for rent, and a few for clothes. The free choice to spend it how you like will turn into a vague memory. You can no longer give to the poor, the streets will look different from what we were used too even that joyrider at night I mentioned will be history.
Life will be better, so good if we are equal. We the people who are divided by the colour of our skin, gender, age, disability, how many times we raise or use our voice and the type of spoon in our mouth we are born with (those without a spoon no longer exist).
It was hard to find a pie. No longer we can buy what we had in mind for this only day in the year. Pie, different tastes, and chocolate became as rare as fruits, vegetables, and meat. It's not just in my head the world has changed again. Turns out the situation is not different from 100 years ago, two hundred or longer. Just like back then we'll survive. We have skills or develop them and for now, we, me and my children, are satisfied with the presents we get.
A suitcase with candy for travelling and the hard days, all the basic ingredients one needs to buy a new cake or bread and a stuffed animal, no not a pet lion, that makes one wonder if the one who invented it, was right in his mind.
I feel kind of sad. It is another goodbye to what we once had. Those old frogs look way better than that present and they will end up at 4noppes the shop where you can take what you need or like for free.
We want to minimize since our house is small and my daughter and I already share a bedroom where there's no even room for a closet or desk next to our beds.

There is always someone who does not allow the rest of the citizens to sleep peacefully. They don't know about noise pollution. Or at least they don't care. We have environmental troublemakers here too and the worst thing is that they ignore the law. Your stuffed animals are cute.
