No fear.
Masks
Face masks. We do not wear them but suddenly have to. A bit strange since the number of infected people, and those dying, decreased since March 23, 2020. At the moment it's about 10-30 daily.
There's a good reason why no one was asked to use a mask. (With no one I mean the common people.)
First reason: not enough masks.
Second reason: not hygienic especially not those homemade ones.
Third reason: with masks, people feel secure and forget about the social distance rule, and will not keep a distance. Suddenly this became our PM's prior reason.
The reason why we have to use masks now is because we are on our way (exit) out of the lockdown and public transport will be used again. Clear is public transport will be the last organization investing in enough space to realize the needed social distance. This means people will be packed like cattle and a mask might (!) help to keep them safe.
Fact: this coronavirus is airborne!
People died.
Most of all elderly did. It is not surprising since this happens each Winter.
By now the amount of sick and diseased people in my country Isn't much higher as during the flu of 2018-2019.
Why did those people die? Because they had several other diseases, receive the worst care there is, have a huge lack of vitamins and minerals for over years, and... they were not taken to hospital. Why not? Because the beds were meant for younger people.
Although many became ill and a part died we proved keeping distance is what is needed most.
I could say it's washing your hands or cleaning your house, disinfecting the food/items you bought but for sure most people didn't do that during the past months and if you ask me hardly any shop did disinfect the shopping carts or shop at all. It's not realistic to think they did and the fact there are tissues present to do it yourself doesn't mean they are used.
The "specialists", according to the newspaper, said the risk is close to zero you catch the coronavirus by touching a can of fish or a shopping cart.
People are dirty.
Don't let us fool ourselves. Most people do not wash their hands after a toilet visit. We even see this in movies. Men peeing and next shaking hands or touching someone's face.
People pee outside. Although it's forbidden where I live I see them do so everywhere. Just drive the highway and you see men lined up. Hands are not washed.
Public toilets are dirty and it's not inviting to use them. Washing your hands is frequently impossible and what about your shoes if you stand in the pee or... dog poop? How many people still leave their shoes outside?
Bacteria
We are surrounded by it. We breathe them in and out and have no problem sharing what hides in our intestines with others.
Interesting is those bacteria can be found through our entire home. You will find them in the kitchen and believe it or not but the doorknob is the dirtiest item you can touch, it's not your toilet or the toilet seat.
Bacteria, good or bad, we live with them and most of us are fit enough to be labeled as "healthy".
Viruses
Let's stop panicking. The coronavirus is not the first virus dangerous to humankind and... it will not be the last one. We live in a world where we are surrounded by viruses and the yearly flu is not the only one we have to deal with. Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Rabies, Hiv, etc are viruses, illnesses, we have to count with and if there's a new wave, we need to deal with that one too and we did.
We survived the medieval Plague, the Spanish flu (1918-1919), Mexican flu (swine flu/Influenza A/H1N1 2009, 2010, 2015, 2016), and many more.
Influenza A/H1N1 is a good example of a virus that visits us every few years and no one is scared of it any longer. We take it for granted just like we do with HIV, sexual diseases, and the yearly flu. Soon we forget about this type of coronavirus that causes covid19 too because we survived and something new came on our way to deal with.
