Are we really free spirits? Free to read, watch, listen to what we like? If it comes to it we are not. If it isn't the state who tells us what is good or right, religion, society, other countries, media, parents, teachers, and who knows who and what more tell us what to do, how to live, what is allowed to eat, drink, wear...
In reality, the list with laws and rules, and the organizations telling us what is not allowed, no longer permitted or acceptable than the list and organizations fighting for our rights. Human rights, equality is frequently just a term. A hollow phrase no politician or organization lives by.
We simply ban what is a threat to us!
It is not up to us to decide what to read, watch, consume. Books, films can be banned or if you are and to order it abroad at all they "do not deliver in your country" or it's "not available in my country". A lot is no longer available to me, which includes payment options although I have exactly those options required (the bank account, credit card, even a positive amount). It's the phone provider, PayPal, and some others who suddenly decide " it's not available for me but interesting enough it is for my kid. The Play Store is not different. Google, Microsoft, and the rest they all know what is good for me. It reminds me of what the prime minister said after the last elections (those elections he only won because votes were trow away and he refused new elections): People who are too stupid to vote shouldn't have the right to vote (a message addressed to those who didn't vote for him).
It's how today's' world works. If you can no longer scare people, manipulate them with hell, and the devil you need to protect them against themselves. More rules to live by, books, films are no good, neither are intellects (they think and question too much). Deleted is everything that harms the stupid sheep, a virus and social distance is a great help to achieve a better world. A world of people who do as told and never question anything. It reminds me of some films.
In a democratic country freedom is observed and laws and rules were formulated and implemented to avoid the abuse of freedom. Rallies were tolerated as long the ralliest group had a permit and followed government protocols on rallies. Countries which are not democratic rallies were not permitted and even shoot if they insisted.
But there are circumstances that policy and law makers abuse what they have drafted, they are the violators suppressing the freedom of the country's citizen.
