We are tired, extremely tired and it was hard for me to get out of bed and one of the children had a very hard time if it came to leaving. I already filled the bags, Apple, waffles, phone in case of need, face masks, checked if they had everything... The end of the story was the youngest left alone (afraid to miss the bus plus needs to travel longer) and the bus-kid was still here fighting the dirty hair, being exhausted, and hardly able to open the eyes.
4 a.m. is not a great time for children to wake up. They hardly have time to eat something which means it is tea and vitamin pills. With a broken car the only way left is 1 hour by bike to the bus station. At least one hour if the bike is broke, they have a flat tire it's a walk of max 5 hours. It is understandable they feel tired. Once at the bus stop they take the bus for one hour, after that it's a 20-minute walk with two school bags. One with a weight of at least 20 kilograms, the other with sport clothes and shoes. Once at school it is no fun if you start the day with sport, running around because the teacher says you are a lazy arse.
Lazy? Might be other children are but not these two. Once back in town after traveling long they buy the most necessary things like the next notebook for maths, some food, or the repaired tire at the bike shop. After they are done it's one hour back by bike (or walking). The result is back at 7 p.m. without being able to eat or drink something properly. They literally step inside and start with their homework while they eat in between. They do not have much time because the longer homework takes the fewer night rest one has. Traveling time doesn't give them the option to make homework, you cannot if you need to stay between the crowd.
School? They do not care about how much some students invest in being able to be present at all. I doubt any teacher does as much as my children do. They are even too lazy to do their job in a proper way.
It's disappointing since we only are in the third week of this school season but my children are broke and as a parent, their health is my responsibility too.
It is true, they are running out and then that influences school performance which can also decrease.
May you find an alternative to that difficult life that you are all going through.
