Christians & craziness

That's what happens in certain parts of society. Not each one of them but where rules are more strict than anywhere else. Some say it's to protect the health, others it's God's will and what all those who preach it (governments included) have in common Is saying: it's for your own good, if you do not agree, believe in something else you are crazy, a terrorist and... they cover up the truth and keep their followers isolated and dumb.

It's Sunday morning... Pouring rain outside and I finished watching the Netflix series 'Midnight Mass'. The series does give the close, focused watcher a lot to think about if it comes to the Bible, how what is written can be interpreted, is understood and preached by some but also about life in a small, isolated community. There's a lot of preaching about forgiveness, God's goodness but forgiving, accepting, showing love, some understanding and respect is not in it if it comes to it.

The Bev character is a fanatic. She truly believes God does love her more than anyone else. She's good for recalling memories of a bad life, memories out of my childhood. Each memory has to do with this type of fanatism, close to sick ideas some 'good Christians' try to force upon others with violence, cruelty, torture. Watching this series didn't give me a great feeling about the few good people trying to save the world. The madness of these 'christians' was too overwhelming.

Riley dreams, always the same dream. He sits in a boat, waits for the start of the day but never sees the sunrise. He shared his dream with Erin and the reason why you'll find if you watch this series (you can try 123movies if you don't have Netflix).

If it comes to right and wrong the outcome is coloured. How we are raised is a big part of the kind of person we will be but not the only reason. It's character and courage which influences our behaviour. That inner voice named common sense so many of us ignore, is silenced by fear of others but there for a reason. Blaming others, punishing them, forcing them to believe in what is holy to you won't help to preach paradise. Not God's promised one, or a world free of viruses. We all are meant to die and should stop covering up the truth because it doesn't fit us.

Happy Sunday to all of you.

Hello there,

Regardless of whether or not someone believes in God, the problem is to live to the best of your ability before one faces death.

This is where I marvel at the miracle of life.

I wonder sometimes if life is worth living. Well, life is an unavoidable gift, but it is up to you how to enjoy it.

I believe that religions provide the elements to discern the path to the creator, of course, it is easy to become fanatical, as I suppose the series you refer to shows. The important thing is to seek intimacy with that being whom we call God and that only fools deny.

In the end, it doesn't matter what you believe in when the time comes.
