Leishmaniasis is an infection of human beings caused by bite of mosquito female sand fly.
There are different types of sandflies, all of them are not responsible for causing Leishmaniasis.
But some of them are responsible for causing Leishmaniasis.
Leishmaniasis are of different types according to different species of sandflies.
Types Of Leishmaniasis :Leishmaniasis are of 3 types:
Cutaneous Leishmaniasis :
This is the type of Leishmaniasis where skin is infected after the bite of mosquito.
It usually effect the visit parts of skin like face, hands and feet.
This type of infection is mild because it can be cured by using any ointment.
But uf it's ignored by considering a normal infection or mosquito bite then it can expells or become ulcerated.
The symptoms appears after 2 weeks of mosquito bites.
Common symptoms include :
Red spots on skin
Itching
Liquid or pus coming out of skin
Pain in infection area
This can be cured within a month if diagnosed in early stage, if not then sometimes it take years to heal.
Mucocutaneous Leishmaniasis :
This infection is a little more serious than cutaneous.
In this type of infection the infection reaches to mucous membranes and effect respiratory system..
It is also caused by bite of female sand fly and increases by ignoring earlier symptoms. It's symptoms appears after a month.
Common symptoms include :
Itching in throat
Cough
Flu
Blood while coughing
Pain in stomach
It can by controlled by taking oral pills on proper time according to doctor's instructions.
Visceral Leishmaniasis :
This is the most dangerous type of Leishmaniasis.
It is fatal if not cured on time.
It effects internal body parts directly.
It's common symptoms appears after months.
Common symptoms include :
Pain in stomach
Nausea
Vomiting
Headache
Feeling dizzy
Diahrea
This need to be treated directly after first symptoms , otherwise it will effect your body and can take your life.
Precautions :Leishmaniasis occurs mostly in those areas which are open and are having wet breezes.
Try to stay at the roof in such areas because sand flies can't fly high.
Drink pure water and keep it covered..
Use gloves, socks and masks while going outside.
Keep the environment clean.
Use mosquito sprays.
Eat healthy food to make your immune system strong.
Use mosquito net while sleeping.
Treatment :For treatment doctor suggest antiparasitic oral pills.
Injection chloroquine is used to treat cutaneous Leishmaniasis.
It is injected on the infection area directly.
