I

Like Bol imperceptibly

Summer is coming to an end -

In the end too inconspicuous

Look like a betrayal -

Silence filtered -

When dusk begins long ago -

Or Nature in his company

Spend the afternoon alone -

Twilight came earlier -

The dawn of others has dawned -

Kind yet painful Grace -

As a guest who would leave -

And so deprived of wings or

Help the ship to anyone -

Our summer is

In the beauty of your easy escape -

Emily Dickinson was born in December 1830 in the continental town of Amherst, Massachusetts, New England.

At that time, it was almost impossible for women to engage in poetry. They were expected to be refined and to read poetry, but not to write poems themselves. Literary talent and the study of poetry were reserved for men. However, there were also occasional stories about successful women writers.

Emily knew the works of the Bronte sisters from England and admired them. Secondly, it is rare that Emily's song was published during her lifetime. Only a few relatives and friends knew about them. Even fewer people saw her lavish talent. When, shortly after her death, her songs were published, they immediately achieved great success.

Her private life was equally unusual. Since she turned thirty, she rarely left the house and saw anyone except her immediate family. She often corresponded with a small number of selected people. For twenty-six years, Emily lived in seclusion and solitude. You might think that the poetry that such a woman wrote is of little importance to the rest of the world ... Until you read it. The essence of poetry is hidden meanings. One song can be interpreted in several ways at the same time. An encounter with Emily Dickinson's poetry tells us how deeply she knew nature and the human essence and how skillfully she was able to express them in her own characteristic, energetic and inspired way.

For her, life in this world is a colorful and exciting experience that she approaches with dignity, with zeal and enjoyment. She started writing as a teenager. As a frugal Puritan, she wrote on pieces of paper, what we would call recycling today.

During her life, she published only a few songs with the help of shrewd friends. Is it weird that she didn't want the world to know what she was doing? She knew that others would not know what to think of her. As a thirty-year-old, she completely stopped going to church. In pious New England it was a shocking move.

Judge Otis Lord was a longtime family friend and was eighteen years older than Emily. After his wife passed away in 1877, the relationship between Lord and Emily gradually grew into a romance which, primarily through letters, continued until his death, in 1884.

In 1878, she wrote to him: "I confess that I love. I'm looking forward to what I love. I am grateful to the creator of heaven and earth who brought us together. "In 1880, he presented her with valuable Shakespeare's collected works. And in 1882 he proposed to her. After a short thought, she refused. taking care that no one finds out.And this proves to us that, though isolated, Emily Dickinson certainly knew life.

She sat in her room and wrote enigmatic and extraordinary verses. Ideal moments in nature, a subtle depiction of human feelings - all this was far from the strict dogmas and doctrines of her fellow citizens in New England, but in Emily Dickinson's poetry the voice of individuality broke through, the only voice that mattered - the voice of the New World. As she watched on Sunday as people flocked to the new church her brother had built, it was no wonder she decided to keep her voice to herself. Someone else will have to take her pieces of used paper out into the world. After Emily died at the age of fifty-six, Mabel, Austin's mistress, took on the task of publishing her poetry.

The Dickinson family members were extremely learned, eloquent and literate. It is to their credit that they accepted and respected Emily's withdrawal from everyday life. It was her personal choice, but it was not an escape, but the only way she could develop her own voice, undisturbed by a society that was not yet ready to stop, to imagine and enjoy the wonderful world in which she lives. That society was not ready to reject its tribal heritage and step out of the shadow of ignorance and superstition. The fact that she succeeded in all this in such an inspiring way, and all by herself, is her wonderful legacy to us.
