What is Botox?

Botox convincingly holds the first place on the list of the most popular anti age treatments. For cosmetic purposes, it is obtained from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

The name under which it is known globally is due to the brand that produces it, while in Croatia and Europe it is known as Vistabel - a product registered for the correction of wrinkles around the eyes and wrinkles between eyebrows due to frequent frowning (in practice they know as units, eleven and one hundred).

It is a purified protein that has been used in cosmetic surgery and medicine for more than 20 years to relax the facial muscles, which cause wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes and between the eyebrows.

Botox treatment for facial rejuvenation

Permanent wrinkles occur as a result of daily movements of the facial muscles. Botox treatment is one of the most common treatments in non-invasive facial rejuvenation. It is used to smooth the wrinkles of smilies, frown and erase horizontal lines on the forehead. By injecting proteins, nerve signals are blocked, certain receptors on the mimic muscles are occupied and their relaxation is achieved.

The treatment is painless and lasts only a few minutes. It is performed without anesthesia. A few patients usually feel the sting of a thin needle or a sting, but after a few minutes that feeling stops. You can inject Botox indefinitely, but it is necessary to be moderate and pay attention to the appropriate time interval between treatments to be determined by your doctor.

How long-lasting and effective the effect of Botox will be varies from person to person. The average effect is usually 3 to 4 months, but some "lucky ones" will enjoy the effect even longer.

Whether rejuvenation with this preparation will be enough to make someone look youthful depends on the age of the patient and the needs of his face. For younger people, this is a sufficient solution.

If you leave yourself in the hands of an experienced doctor, you can achieve an excellent temporary result by using a smaller number of units. Since the eyes are the main part of the face that people pay attention to during communication, you will very quickly get praise for a fresh and relaxed look.

Will my face look “frozen” after Botox?

Botox does not paralyze muscles, but only weakens their mobility. Experts do not apply it to the whole face, but only to certain parts overloaded with facial expressions, such as the forehead or corners of the eyes. When professionally injected, patients will generally retain their expressiveness and their face will not look frozen.

Will I look bad after Botox stops working?

One of the most common questions from practice that they encounter in the office is: "Will I look worse after the cessation of Botox than when I started the treatment?". By applying it, you delay the aging of the face. Because the Botox molecule blocks the contraction of the facial muscles of the upper third of the face, they do not form wrinkles during the period of action. During this period, your skin rests.

Contrary to expectations, when the period of action of this anti age preparation passes, your face will look better than before. There is no justifiable reason why you should have to repeat the procedure countless times in order not to look worse.

However, it should be emphasized that Botox can have the opposite effect if you overdo it. As with everything in life, doctors will recommend moderation. In this case, from an aesthetic and medical point of view, less is always more.

Botox can do a lot more. With it you can correct the so-called. gummy smile, ie a condition when the gums are excessively visible with a wide smile. Also, treatment can reduce the action of master muscles whose increased contraction affects bruxism, ie nocturnal gnashing of teeth.

Botox injections can also be given to people who sweat excessively under the armpits, in the groin, on the palms or soles of the feet, and the effect can last up to a year. It has been proven that migraines can also be treated this way.

This aesthetic treatment is actually of a medical nature as it represents much more than just “erasing” wrinkles.

Is Botox the same as a dermal filler?

Botox and fillers are applied in the same way - they are injected under the skin. But these are by no means the same aesthetic treatments. Botox flattens wrinkles by preventing facial expressions, while dermal fillers fill in the imperfections on it.

If wrinkles occur in parallel with facial expressions, like lines between the eyebrows, then your choice is Botox. But if these wrinkles are still visible even when your face is relaxed, then with fillers you can reduce the depth of the wrinkles and improve the tone of the face.

Be sure to schedule Botox treatment only in those health care institutions where doctors and dentists with a license to perform aesthetic procedures work. You take a big risk if you go to beauticians, nurses, etc. who advertise listed treatment as a real opportunity at affordable prices. In case of unprofessional injection or use of an impure preparation, the consequences can lead to serious health problems.
