Since Covid-19 began to spread around the world, schools and universities were forced to close their doors, as a precaution, both students and teachers were sent home, and began to use methods to continue teaching classes, the curious thing is that this mode of teaching, already has some time among us, but had not been given the necessary value in the world as now, we refer to Virtual Education.

What is Virtual Education?

It is the development of educational programs in cyberspace, it is a new teaching-learning method where teachers and students interact online, either through an educational platform, blog, forum, chat or a mobile messaging application, among others. Virtual education is supported by ICTs, many may wonder, What are ICTs?: Information and Communication Technologies, are those developed technologies that are responsible for managing information and send them, ICTs are part of education, since the advancement of technology, therefore both virtual and distance education are related to each other, this new way of educating both virtually and at a distance, born by how advanced the world is, there are many people who work every day and do not have enough time, have many activities and it is difficult or impossible for them to attend an educational center physically, so they prefer to choose to be trained from home.

To clarify this curious concept or definition, we have to understand that virtual education complements distance education, both need to be related, if this does not happen, neither can be effective or of quality, because virtual education complements distance education, so that the person who chooses this way of learning has a virtual space where to learn.

What are the advantages of Virtual Education?

Comfort - Nowadays most people want to avoid so many dramas and stress when studying, and virtual education offers you the most comfort, why? Very simple, to enter any virtual classroom, you can use your cell phone, tablet, laptop or pc, there is no limitation, you can be sitting or lying down, depending on the activity to be performed, and most of the classes taught from this mode, can be downloaded if you did not make it or had failures in the internet connection.
You save time -There is nothing better than forgetting to get up early in the morning, to save you the morning traffic and thus arrive early to the first class of your schedule, and avoid problems with the teacher, when you study virtually and remotely, you can do it from anywhere or anytime, you save a lot of time when you start studying in this mode, and it helps you a lot if you have a family or a job that requires you a lot of concentration and time.
Autonomy in learning - It is very necessary to become more and more responsible and in virtual and distance education, we have enough autonomy, everything will advance depending on us, and the pace we take, but also on our responsibility, not because it is a little "easier" modality, we will stop being perseverant and constant, on the contrary we should make a much greater effort than usual.
Protagonism in training - In face-to-face education, students do not have an active role in this training process, because their job is to receive the information given by the teacher, and that's it, learn with what they are given and even limit themselves. But with virtual education, this changes a lot, because the student is already part of the training process and does not remain only with what the educator transmits or teaches, and even tries to go beyond.

Are there any disadvantages in Virtual Education?

Unfortunately yes, nothing in life is perfect, and not everyone can access this modality, either for lack of a computer, a cell phone,Tablet or internet access, it is a bit limiting, especially if you live in a country like Venezuela, where electricity, internet, and nothing is safe.

It is also the case that some students misuse this modality, because many believe that because it is distance learning, it is "easier" or even "simple", but they are wrong, because in virtual and distance education, it is more demanding than face-to-face, and it is because of the comfort you have, and the access to first hand information, and in VirtualVariety we agree, that when you are studying at a distance and virtual, you have to give more, you have to do everything with more passion and creativity, because there is plenty of time and if you organize yourself well, everything can go without any problem.

As we have noticed in this short post, virtual education has transformed the way that was being used in many countries, to train and educate people, regardless of their age, if it is true that it has its limitations, as we mentioned in the disadvantages, but it is certainly a great way today to learn, and form us as future professionals, and more in these times when we are asked to keep us confined, in quarantine, without so many crowds, we believe that we need to educate ourselves more about these issues, learn more about its importance, and certainly give us an opportunity to learn in this way, there are many platforms that offer courses, free with certificates, soon we will be bringing a post about it.
