Good day everyone, dear bloggers and readers. Today, my article will delight all those who like to drink beer. And those who are not beer lovers, after reading this article, may want to start drinking beer from time to time.

Beer is one of the oldest and most popular drinks in the world. It is produced in large-capacity breweries, craft workshops, and even at home, but always with the same goal - to provide the end consumer with a complete atmosphere in taste, smell and aroma. From carefully selected raw materials, through a series of procedures in the technological process of production, a complex drink is obtained that contains hundreds of different components, and even those that have bioactive properties.

Beer is a sparkling refreshing drink with a characteristic aroma and bitter taste. It contains a small amount of ethyl alcohol and is saturated with carbon dioxide. It is a good food emulsifier, stimulates appetite, and its extract is easily absorbed.

Water and other useful ingredients

Water is the most dominant ingredient in beer, and depending on the type of beer, it ranges from 88% to 95%. Thanks to such a high water content in beer, the diuretic effect that alcohol has on the body is reduced. The mineral composition of the water used in production affects the characteristics of beer, and other raw materials used (barley, hops, yeast) also contribute to the chemical composition of beer and enrich it with minerals, vitamins and other useful ingredients.

Protection of human bones, nerves and muscles

Like all food products made from cereals, beer contains B vitamins. These vitamins are formed during the germination of barley, preparation and aging of malt. Part of it is used by yeasts used in beer production, and a good part remains dissolved in water. Niacin (B3), folic acid (B9) and folate are the most common, while Pyridoxine (B6), riboflavin (B2), thiamine (B1), panthenic acid (B5), biotin (B7) and cobalamin (B12) are present in smaller quantities. In addition to B vitamins, beer also contains vitamins A, C, D and E in smaller quantities, and contains minerals, potassium, calcium and magnesium. In addition to vitamins and minerals, some types of beer, lager beer (so-called lower fermentation beers), may contain smaller amounts of antioxidants, namely flavonoids.

Balanced diet

Despite the fact that beer contains many useful ingredients and very important protective substances, we cannot use it in the diet as a source of vitamins and minerals. First of all, we must keep in mind that the alcohol that beer contains partially reduces the resorption of protective substances. Also, beer, like all alcoholic beverages, must be used in moderation. So, we can satisfy our needs for vitamins and minerals with a varied and balanced diet, and occasionally we can enjoy the taste of beer and thus add a few more important protective substances to our body.

Beer protects the kidneys

Beer can prevent the formation of kidney stones, ie reduce the risk of their development by 40 percent, scientists from Finland have determined. It is not entirely clear why this is so, but experts believe that it is the amount of fluid that stimulates the kidneys. Also, scientists are convinced that hops can slow down the release of calcium in the body, which is responsible for the formation of stones.

Beer strengthens the brain

The silicon found in beer can also help your brain. It protects your brain from compounds that can lead to cognitive diseases. There is also a study that says that the compound found in hops, xanthohumol, supports neuronal cells that can help prevent neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's, dementia and Parkinson's disease.

Beer prevents diabetes

The chance of developing diabetes is lower in people who drink beer compared to those who do not, showed a study published in the European Association for the Study of Diabetes. Those who drink one to six beers a week have a 21 percent lower chance of developing the disease, they said.

Another study was conducted at the Harokopio University in Athens. Experts there studied 1,500 men and found that a lower daily intake of beer in the body can halve the rate of diabetes, especially in those who eat healthy. They said that the habit stopped the blood sugar level from rising to dangerous heights and increased the body's response to insulin.

Beer lowers blood pressure

As it protects the heart, moderate beer drinking also helps lower blood pressure. A study of 70,000 women between the ages of 25 and 42 found that those who drank moderate amounts of beer had lower blood pressure than women who drank moderate amounts of wine or other alcoholic beverages.

Beer protects the lungs

Moderate drinking can help protect the lungs, according to a study presented at the American College of Chest Physicians (University of Chest Physicians). Those who drank moderately were better in breath tests than anti-alcoholics. In addition, people who drink less than two drinks a day are 20 percent less likely to develop lung disease than those who do not drink.

A Japanese study showed that hops in beer help prevent colds and chest infections. Also, experts from the Medical University in Sapporo discovered that humulon, a chemical compound in hops, is effective against the respiratory syncytial virus and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Of course, every drink needs limits. The positive effects of consuming beer are not a reason for someone to get drunk and become an alcoholic. It is necessary to have moderation in everything!
