Holiness of life

Today, life is considered very cheap. Atomic bombs and warheads, as well as the most cruel instruments of destruction, are said to kill thousands of people. The killers are often released or receive only moderate punishment. Thus, these men relax in public so as not to repeat their crimes. How does God view this lack of respect for life?

The Son of God himself said to his disciples: “Do you not sell two sparrows for a penny? But none of them will fall to the ground without your father knowing. But the hair on your head counts all. Do not worry: you are worth more than many sparrows. God values the lives of all people so that he gave his Son as a sacrifice so that everyone could have eternal life.

He emphasized the holiness of life in the law of God

In his law that governs the ancient nation of Israel, God showed the great value he places on life. This law urged judges to be very careful when determining guilt or innocence and guaranteeing justice for people. But for a murderer convicted of murder, there was only one punishment: “Salvation would not be sought for the soul of a murderer who deserves to die, for he must undoubtedly be killed. No, it can be the atonement for the blood of the land that was shed there, except the blood of the one who shed it ”(Num. 35: 31-33).

People who knew this was evidence must come forward to testify, otherwise they would be cursed in public.Witnesses who testified against a man charged with the death penalty must have been the first to throw stones to execute him.It takes a very hardened person to testify incorrectly and then kill the person who has been wrongly convicted. The law, misjudged, would give rise to much deliberation and the punishment it sought to impose on the accused. These claims have really discouraged false, rash or ruthless claims.

Accidental murder resulted in bloodshed

Even in the case of accidental murder, the sanctity of life was deeply impressed. For example, a man can chop wood when the ax's head flies off and hits another person and kills him. Accidental murder must therefore immediately flee to the nearest sanctuary that God graciously appointed. There he took refuge until he could return to the jurisdiction where the incident occurred. A trial was held. If the incident had really been an accident, the man would have been taken to the city of refuge, where he would stay until the death of the high priest he was serving at the time. Of course, this can take years or even a lifetime.

The "Blood Avenger" law also emphasized the need to fully respect life. This person was most closely related to the deceased. He could have acknowledged the incident as a pure accident. But murder can delay your escape, delay your escape, or, once you reach the refuge, a day across your line and possibly return home. Such actions would show that he was not really interested in causing a man's death or the guilt he endured. In that case, the "blood avenger" would have to kill the killer. Respect for the sanctity of life through accidental murder and the "blood avenger" thus had to conceal any personal desire or feeling. The dismantling of shelters also prevented blood wars or revenge deaths. It created a peaceful relationship between God and the nation.

Is the death penalty fair?

Some people may think that society has made progress in eliminating the death penalty. Given the law that God gave to Israel, it is obvious that the death penalty for murder is not very severe, but it reflects God's high respect for life, not only in general but also for one person. We must remember that the mosaic law comes from the ruler of the universe. God really had human interests in mind when he incorporated this aspect into Israeli law.

In reality, however, the death penalty originated more than 850 years before the treaty. After the flood, God spoke to Noah and said, “I will pray for the blood of your soul. I will recover it from the hand of every living being; and with the hand of man, with all his brother, I will ask once again for the soul of man. Whoever sheds man's blood will shed his own blood for man. This law applies to all mankind because all the people of the earth are descendants of Noah's family.

According to this law, the statutory authority could successfully execute the intentional murderer. Is this the Christian point of view? Yes, because Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ, wrote to Christians about the governments of the world: “Do you not want to fear authority? . . . If you are wrong, fear: because it is not useless for [the authority] to wield the sword [the execution]; because he is a servant of God, an avenger who shows anger towards those who do evil. "- compare Acts 25:10, 11.

As a result, God made it clear that he regarded life as holy and very precious. He wants all people to know the truth that leads to eternal life.Although people have committed sins of all kinds, some more serious than others, they can believe in the Atonement of Christ. You can take control of their personality
