In the UK many banks do not allow crypto transactions or do not allow many of them. Some people get their accounts closed or transactions blocked when trying to buy crypto or even when depositing proceeds of a crypto sale.
Some other people have no issues at all but the next person might have an issue. Some blocks are random, others are down to the amount or how many transactions there are. It seems hard to know which are and which aren't as most banks won't be 100% clear with you if you ask!

Here are some of the UK's banks along with how crypto friendly they are!
Please note that these reports are mostly from peoples experiences and one or two are from what the banks said. You may have a different experience than others.

Non Crypto Friendly UK Banks

These have either been said by the banks or from people's experiences. You may be fine if you try or you may get your account closed or the transition blocked so just be aware of this.

  • Halifax – Not allowed

  • HSBC – Not allowed

  • Lloyds – Not allowed

  • Nationwide – Won’t allow Coinbase transactions

  • Starling – Not allowed

  • Virgin – Banned credit card transactions

Crypto Friendly UK Banks:

This is just from what people have reported. Of course some people have had bad experiences with these banks too, but by large, most people have had ok experiences with them.

  • Barclays – A large majority had no problems

  • Co-operative – Seem to allow transactions

  • Natwest – Seem to allow transactions

  • RBS – Seem to allow transactions

  • Revolut – Sell crypto and seem to allow other transactions although some people had issues

  • Santander – Some people still have had issues but a large majority had no problems

  • TSB – Seem to allow transactions

Of course you may have a different experience so feel free to reply with your experience.
