So, long story short, I have heard about bitcoin since I first came to South Korea, in 2013, for joining a university. It was around 200 USD I believe, and I thought, wow, that's some magical internet money and did a brief research upon it.

At that time, I wanted to get some and try it out myself, but buying one seems like a hustle in South Korea at that time, also, me myself was living in monthly stipend so I couldn't spare 200 bucks on the sideline that easily. So I just forgot about it for a while and just go on with my life there.

Seasons had changed, years had passed, at October, 2017 almost at the peak of the crypto market cycle, bitcoin caught my attention again. I read some articles online about some old couples buying ETH (Ethereum) for around 500k USD worth by selling their house. In my mind, I was shocked and surprised to see even some old people getting involve in this magical internet currency space. So, I wanted to try it out. It was my final year in school so I am still not having some extra cash to waste.

But, nevertheless, I wanted to give it a try. Luckily, I found out that there are already multiple trustworthy exchanges in Korea at that time. The next day, I opened my first ever crypto account in coinone exchange, which is still around even today.

I have saved up like 500 USD so far, which is quite a lot for me at that time. I did my first deposit there and played around trading some coins. I got like 100% plus from my original deposit in the first week. And, I thought, if I have invested more money, I would have got more returns.

Yes, I did, I did borrowed 2k USD from my friends, knowing that losing it will surely ruin me financially. But, starting from the end of November I did grew my portfolio to around 10k USD. Paid back in full, all of my debts from my friends and I felt like I am a trading genius at that time. Besides, I have never held that much cash in my life being still a student myself.

A brief story with BCH here .. my first incident with bitcoin cash BCH is when there was a hash rate fight with bitcoin and bitcoin cash. BTC and BCH were both listed in bithumb and coinone at that time, which was around November, 2017. It was the time BCH pumped so hard that bithumb exchange froze and crashed at 100% BCH pump day from 1.5k to almost 3k usd per coin. At the peak of BCH, there's only 2k USD difference between those coins. Interestingly, here in South Korea, almost all coins were trading at premium compared to other international exchanges. And I was still researching about the differences between them.

Surely, I did celebrated more than I have to. Got myself a fresh iPhone X which was just released. And the gains were starting to get insane from the start of December , 2017, which is also my final year, last month for my degree.

But It was never a smooth ride from rags to new found riches. As, I was mostly a day trader, even though the gains were insane, the losses were insane as well. I was scared to hold the coins which were already pumped hard. Most, who were in crypto market back in that time, remembers how insane was in 2017, December, which was later considered to be a bull market peak of 2017 cycle.

To be continued..
