Explaining Crypto Terms, The "tstn" Way

This was not supposed to be my post, but a new feature in noise.cash prompted me to come up with this idea.

One of my noise.cash posts that was shared a lot, and got me a lot of followers was when l explained what some acronyms meant in a reply somewhere. (That reminds me to start archiving my favorite posts/replies here because they are very difficult to recover in noise)

So I started this new channel.

https://noise.cash/c/what-crypto-terms-mean-simple--v4l383v1

What Crypto Terms Mean? (Simple English)

What do those acronyms mean? FOMO? FUD? Plain English.

And these are the first posts:

https://noise.cash/post/1m53nq5v

We all already know what FOMO stands for because it is easy enough to search and people define it every other day (fear of missing out)

But what does it mean to you?

Fomo means l created this channel because l read that the tips would be high. Normally, this would result in me getting high tip values, but it could also mean that by the time l created my channel, tip values would be down already.

How about in the crypto world, what does it mean?

When people say fomo in crypto, it means that something (a token or currency) is getting famous and increasing in value so people also buy it, making the value go up higher faster better, and stronger.

But they say it is fomo because the increase has to do more with the popularity of the price increase, and not because people saw the value of the project.

How do you differentiate it from a pump and dump?

These 2 terms can apply to the same situation.

Fomo is like the first part of pump and dump.

Pump and dump will be explained like this in a different post if people would like to learn more about it in the way l explain things.

Should you ignore fomo?

It depends.

Fomo just means that the value is increasing for no real reason. You can take advantage of it by buying in early, and selling as soon as you get profits.

But if you are not confident that you can time your selling properly, it is better for you to avoid buying in to fomo, or just buy a little and hodl it or ignore it and hope to be surprised with good news in the future.

If you think that the above is financial advice, just know that the value of crypto can go to zero, so this is financial advice on something that can go to zero, so beware.

Next up is FUD which if you try to understand from the individual words (fear, uncertainty, doubt) is difficult to make sense of.

These 3 things are criteria we consider when looking at the price of whatever it is we are evaluating. Like many other terms in crypto, is borrowed from stock market trading jargo

Fear means people have a tendency to sell the stock to prevent further lossess from the stock's price going down (different from the dump in pump and dump that l will discuss when people as

Uncertainty means when you analyse a business, you don't really know what its abou

Doubt means that you cannot trust in its potential to increase in value (mostly for the short ter

But what does that have to do with crypt

Because of how fast crypto prices change (volatility), some of these terms have taken on simpler meaning

FUD is when some things happen that cause people to not want to have any of the crypto in question, thereby selling what they own (sometimes called their position--there is a more technical explanation for it, but in general it means you own some of it and have an idea if you wanna hodl or trade for it

Again because crypto moves fast, and because people in general have begun to follow markets, and believe in manipulation, they have started to believe and use the term FUD for both when something out of anyone's control happens that makes people sell their coins, and when some entities spread bad news to make prices go dow

It has even become a verb. You can read people post about certain groups like old school money managers "fuding" on bitcoin to make its price go down furthe

What does is have to do with yo

If you practice "buying the dip", it's kind of a good time to shop for your preferred currenc

You will be able to buy more BCH for the same price then

But what do you have to look out fo

If you buy and the fud is still strong, there is a chance that the value will still go down, and you may feel that buying earlier was a waste, so it's also good to have a good sense of how much fud there is so you can buy close to the botto

But you can't always tell which bottom will be hit, and when, so whenever there's prolonged fud/fuding, it's a good time to buy in and/or use dca style buying. (DCA l will explain my way when people ask later).

There, l hope it helps you to better understand.

These are not exact terms but they're how l would relate them to us who are not really trying to sound like traders.

Let me know if you like this way of explaining things and what you would like to read about on my channel! (Or here if you don't have a noise.cash account)
