Geophysics and it's implications
Hello everyone, in today's world we are trying every possible way to keep the earth in a good condition that it will be safe for our future generations. One of the beggest investment into in this is the field of geophysics.Global warming is one of such concerns of today with the aea levels rising as the temperatures are also rising and animals are going extinct as their habitats are being destroyed.
Geophysics is concerned with the physical structure of the earth and the processes that takes place on earth. It also concerns itself with the atmosphere of the earth like it's gravitational fields ,magnetic field and the surrounding environment. This is not the only aspect of geophysics as it also includes the study of microscopic properties of things such as rocks and the minerals we know today. This field find the connection between some of the natural occurring events like earthquake and climate change.
Modern geophysics is more concerned with not just what i have listed above above but also with the the water cycle, snow and ice, the flow patterns if the sea and solar terrestrial physics that has to concern with plasma and other products.
uses of geophysics
It helps to find hydrocarbons and other minerals in the atmosphere that can help use to be more energy efficient by providing us with other alternatives of energy so that we can avoid polluting the earth and help to save it.
It is a way to help us to map the geographical areas of the earth in order to help us to better understand the earth to increase our knowledge of the earth's structure and it's effect on environmental changes that occur in our everyday life
Geophysics is one of the best ways that helps us to find the amount of carbon emissions into the atmosphere. Too much carbon in the atmosphere is not good for the earth. And since we have not found better alternatives we still use them but ut has led the destruction of the ozone and has led to bad implications on the earth like the sea level rise as more ice in the Arctic is melting more and more each day.
Because of geophysics, today we are able to assess the risks of phenomenas such as earthquakes, tsunami and landslides that might take place before they even come. This has helped to save lives and avoid large scale distruction.
Geophysics also helps to map the presence of CO2 on the earth surface. CO2 can lead to explosions expecially in the mining industries and therefore there is the need to avoid any pockets of CO2 when mining this prevents disasters
Other aspects geophysics
There are many ways that are being used by geophysicist today yo determine what might happen in the next day oven a year from now. seismic data collection is one of the methods that is being used in geophysics to deter the structure of the earth under our feet.the method is in such a way that sound waves are sent into the earth and the continue down until they meet the other geological layer. And they then bounced back to the surface of the earth wgere the geophysicist are able go map the nature of the earth surface underneath us.
The earth surface is full of various other phenomenas that has an effect on the earth and it inhabitants such as the magnic polls of the earth or the gravitational polls. Both has it on use use and they are the reasons why the each stays in balance and remains in it's obit as long as it has existed. The magnetic attraction and repulsion from the sun also helps the earth to stay in obit. The gravitational effects of both the sun and the moon is also why more rocks are pushed deeper underground and the density of them increase.
is one of the few studies that is able to help to explore minerals that are untapped into. The use of seismic waves is one of the best investment into geophysics are it can help to investigate the happenings of earthquakes and give prior warnings to people befor the event takes place. Seismic waves are able to travel on the surface of the earth and using vibrations.
Mineral physics, which is part of geophysics is one of the ways geophysics study the minerals to check their properties such are the melting points, the elasticity of them and their other properties.
In conclusion,geophysics is one enormous field in earth science that has brought us many benefits. It has continued to help improve our lives and has indeed helped us to forecast certain events for the benefit of all. There are many more aspects of geophysics that i have not mentioned but for more indept study.
