My Experience at the Web 3.0 Conference by Tech Circus

Hello everyone, last week I had the honor and pleasure to attend the Web 3.0 Conference that was held online and sponsored by Tech Circus. It was a great conference and made feel good about being in this space at the right time.

One thing I can criticize about the conference is they were trying to shove in too many talks all at once. I ended up missing @crimsonclad's talk because I got caught up in a different panel, but was able to catch @brianoflondon's panel about Podping which was great to hear about that progression. Seemed like allot of people were turned onto Hive from his chat so hopefully we will get some new blood coming through the community.

Another is that they didn't give any love for the west coasters in the Pacific Standard time zone, lol. The conference started for me at like 6am, so I missed some of the talks just because I wasn't awake, lol.

## NFTs DAOs and Social Communities

This was the main overall theme of allot of the panels in one way or the other. If it wasn't supposed to be about these subjects, many went in this direction. It felt good because allot of what people were talking about we already have going here on Hive in the social communities, owning your own data, social rewards, NFTs, DAOs, etc.

There was also allot of talk about branding and how creators and businesses can expand their brands by using web 3.0 technologies. With what I am building on @hivelist and @blocktunes are all about helping people create their brands around crypto commerce, so it helped confirm that I am finally going in the right direction.

## The Subject of the Metaverse

This was also one big focus, but not in the way you would think. Many people see the metaverse as a VR gaming world, but that is not necessarily the case. Most things we do online are in some sort of metaverse as we are dealing with each other on a digital level. Just think of the online conferencing such as the conference or just using voice chat on Discord or Facetime. They are considering this as part of the metaverse.

It's more than just gaming, it's the future of the digital economy. Once you think about it in this stance, it can help you build goals in ways that you haven't thought about. So the metaverse is not just for gamers with the right gear, it's for anyone and everyone and how we are already interacting. The plannedemic has forced us into this meta-world without most of us even knowing it.

## Use Cases

One big discussion was not only around branding, but building use cases. That is the one thing, in my opinion, and the opinions of others from the conference, is that the current wave of NFTs is not what we are going to be seeing in the future as the true use case of NFTs.

NFTs have crossed the plane as far as the thing that has brought the crypto space into the mainstream and you have allot of companies, artists, and celebrities jumping on the train, simply for the quick buck. But... there are also those that see the true utility in making NFTs useful for something other than holding and putting on a profile picture.

One thing was talking about use for licenses, like is done on @nftshowroom and the @hivelist NFT marketplace using the Limited reproduction rights, as well as @blocktunes with the use of royalty free licenses and copyrights. There are of course other uses like memberships, coupons, and a host of other things that NFTs can and will be used for.

Of course we know that NFTs have also changed and are going to change the gaming world as well, but from these talks, it was allot of talk around the industry itself and branding... Lots of talk about branding.

## Building your Web 3.0 Brand

This was honestly the biggest takeaway from it all. You have to really think about what and who you are representing online and build your online persona around that. The online world is a vast space and you can build any persona or brand you want. You just need to think about what direction you want to build your little corner of this new and exciting ecosystem that is all coming together at a very rapid pace. Your brand in this new digital world will be everything. So start giving it some shape and color, and let's see where your brand will take you!

## Wrapping it up

Again I am thankful for the tickets from @hiveio and @guiltyparties. I enjoyed my time and just wish I was able to hit all the talks I really wanted to hear. I did however really learn allot and got the big warm and fuzzy feeling that I am finally doing something right, or at least in the right direction, lol.
