a lot of averageness - Finding reasons to play River Nymph in Splinterlands
Soo... a new challenge of share-your-battle for me! We had some family celebrations and the past weekend is still taking its toll from me, BUT I had some spare time which I spent on playing Splinterlands and yay for the first time since ages I was able to enter Gold League again! -Only for a short period of the day, but I did! ;)
So I guess my last week's upgrading was worth it! :) Now I need 11 more summoners and a whole lot more of monster cards for upgrading! That is I have no money ... eh BCH ... eh SWAP.HIVE ... eh DEC left which in turn means I am still reviewing bcx1-units ;)
So let's take a look at my thoughts on River Nymph's stats. River Nymph is a Rare unit of Water splinter:
First (o): Magic attack of 1 which is okay.
Second thought (o): But then it costs 4 mana to play.
Third thought (o): Its ability might be useful in higher stages, but in low leagues I have not used it all too often.
Fourth thought (o): 4-point-water-unit might be nice to see in combination with Alric as summoner, but as Alric is way too expensive and not playable in Modern format, it is not a pro reason for me.

But perhaps this battle will bring me some new insights! Hard facts: 34 Mana Cap, Modern format, Rulesets: Healed Out and Briar Patch
Hmmm... when I first saw the enemy's lineup I was first a bit indifferent what to think of it. But so was my own lineup. ;) He went with Water Splinter's evergreens and so did I with some other Water Splinter's evergreens.
I skip the first round because not too much happened there. To my surprise Kelp Initiate survived round 1 and to my regret River Nymph was rendered useless by Djinn Oshannus' Void ability.
So after round 3 all my units (including River Nymph) but two were gone without too much of an effect.
But the remaining two stood brave and fierce and when Oshannus finally had left the field, my Runemancer could start recreation. ;)
However the enemy had so much more units than myself that in the end it was only the Runemancer...
...who finally brought home a victory for team jdike
In the end I try to make a short review of River Nymph and some lines above I asked if that battle brought me any new insights. Clear answer: No!
My conclusion is that there may be usecases for River Nymph in higher leagues and at higher levels or even in Wild Format, but for my most played Modern Format and in bcx1 ... I cannot find much reasons to play this unit.
You must have been captured by my style of writing, if you read to this post's end and have not yet signed up for Splinterlands. But if you want to reconsider feel free to use my sign-up link: https://splinterlands.com?ref=jdike
