Allah Almighty has created Heaven for His obedient servants and Hell for the disobedient which exists now and will never be destroyed.... He created Paradise and Hell before He created man and jinn. Then He created its people.... Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'at is unanimous in this regard.... However, the Mu'tazilites and the Qadaris disagreed on this point and said that Allah will create Paradise and Hell on the Day of Resurrection....
Documents from the Qur'an about the existence of Hell:
The first document: Allah says, ‘Fear Hell which has been prepared for the disbelievers’ {Surah Al-Imran: 131.
Second Document: Allaah says, ‘Surely Hell is a hidden trap. The place of return for transgressors' {Surah Naba: 21-22.
Evidence from Hadeeth about the existence of Hell:
The first document: It is narrated in the hadith that it is narrated from Abdullah bin Umar (R.) that the Messenger of Allah (sm) said, if any one of you dies, his place must be presented to him in the morning and evening. If he is in Heaven, then (location) is shown among the people of Heaven.. . And if he is a dweller of Hell, he will be called the dwellers of Hell (the place of abode) and he will be told, "This is your abode, until Allah resurrects you on the Day of Resurrection."
Second Document: In another hadith, Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (sm) said: I saw Amr ibn Amir ibn Luhai Khuzah walking in the fire of Hell with his outer entrails. He was the first person to introduce the practice of offering sa-yibah.
The third document: It has been narrated in another hadith, narrated from Abdullah Ibn Abbas. He said that the solar eclipse took place during the time of the Prophet (sm). People asked, O Messenger of Allah! We saw what it was like to be in your place, and again we saw you move backwards. He said, "I was looking at Paradise and reaching for a bunch of grapes." If I got it, you could eat it as long as the world lasts. Then I was shown hell, I have never seen such a horrible scene as today. And I saw that most of the inhabitants of Hell are women. People asked, O Messenger of Allah! For what reason? He said, "Because of their disbelief." It is asked, "Do they disbelieve in Allah?" She replied, they remain disobedient to the husband and Ihsan denies. If you treat any one of them with kindness all your life, then he (if) gets a little fault from you, then he will say, "I have never been treated well by you."
Fourth Document: It has been narrated in another hadith, narrated from Abu Hurairah. The Prophet (sm) said, when Allah created Heaven, he said to Jebriel (peace be upon him), go and see the Paradise. He went and saw everything that Allah had prepared for it and its people, and said, 'O Allah! I swear by your honor! Anyone who hears about this state of Heaven will surely enter it.... Then Allah surrounded Heaven with hardships, then again He said to Gabriel (peace be upon him), O Jebriel! Go again and see Heaven again. He went and saw it and said, O Allah! From what I have seen now, its entrance is difficult. My fear is that no one will enter it. The Prophet (sm) said, then when Allah created Hell, he said, O Jebriel! Go and see hell. He will see and say, O God! I swear by your honor! Anyone who hears about the awful state of Hell will never enter it.. Then Allah surrounded Hell with an attractive object of instinct and again said to Jebriel, "Go again and see it a second time." He went and saw this time and said, O Allah! I swear by your honor, I fear that not a single person will be left without access to it.
