Premonition of Death 

A story based on real events that can happen to anyone 

Christmas is approaching, the cold fills all the surroundings and the snow slowly takes over the streets.

Dayana, a young university girl, stays awake at dawn studying for her last midterms, her small slanted black eyes have reddened from the wear and tear of reading, large dark circles mark a deep shadow on her long brown face with fine features, making her look quite haggard.

Her wristwatch announces that it is close to 3:00 am Eastern time in the United States, with it, the beautiful Dayana feels the roar of her stomach, fatigued by the physical exhaustion of her studies.

A glance at the refrigerator reminds you that you have nothing to eat, and honestly, you could use a walk down the avenue to distract your mind, fortunately, the small annex of the house where you live, is quite close to a convenience store that opens the 24 hours. The community is quite safe, so taking a walk in the early morning is something Dayana enjoys very much.

 However, that day something was different ...

As he opened the door and took a few steps in the fog of the frozen street, an overwhelming sensation seized his body, it was an intense fear that he had never felt before, his heartbeat every time stronger and his legs trembled, at the same time that they almost prevented him from advancing completely.

Convinced that this was only the result of the hunger that was gnawing at her stomach, she decided to try to ignore it and move on, but she just couldn't, her brain seemed to repeat her heartbeat inside her head, it was as if everything around her was spinning and a kind of invisible barrier prevented him from moving forward.

She was horrified for no reason that she could reason, so she chose to make the only decision she could, go back to the apartment and eat dry cereal since not even milk was left in the fridge.

The next day, when Dayana was walking to the university, she found a great commotion at the convenience store, an ambulance was parked in front next to the morgue van and many police cars.

The panorama before his eyes caused him a lot of uneasiness, so as he could, he spoke to one of the officers behind the yellow line that limited the crime scene.

 -       Excuse me, official. What happened here?

 The policeman replied:

 -       During the early morning, some drug addicts tried to rob the store, but the manager defended himself by causing a shooting.

-       7 people died, including some customers and the store manager.

 Although she cannot explain it, Dayana at that moment was convinced that if she had not had that premonition that prevented her from moving towards the store, something bad would have happened to her that night.

 If he had ignored that sense, death would have claimed his soul, but it was not his time to die.
