Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) has demanded that the government take measures to prevent child marriage and ensure the safety of girls.

The organisation also called on society to work with the government to prevent child marriage and violence against girl children at their families and workplaces, a press release said.

The BNWLA came up with the call as it has organised different programmes to celebrate Girl Child Day 2020.

The state must give opportunity to women and girl children so that they can lead society, it added.

The country must ensure equal rights and safety to girl children as they are not safe even at their homes, the release issued by the BNWLA said.
