This is Taal Volcano in Tagaytay, Philippines

Small but terrible volcano.

Last January 12, 2020, the smallest volcano in the country erupted around 2 pm with tremendous force sending ash cloud high into the atmosphere and it spread its ashfall throughout Luzon. Similar happened in Mt Pinatubo in 1991.

Taal volcano is the second most active volcano in the Philippines next to Mayon Volcano located in Bicol Region.

The threat of base surge a term that is using by Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs is not impossible, the side effect of this scenario will be a tsunami.

Base surge is a horizontal pyroclastic flowing surge that travels around 50 to 80 kph with a massive force that can wreck havoc near the areas of the volcano.

Taal is not only the volcano can produce a tsunami because there was another volcano in the Pacific did exact same thing: Krakatau in Indonesia exploded rapidly with the VEI 6 similar to Mt Pinatubo that changed the face of the earth, the eruption of Krakatau created a massive pyroclastic surge into the sea triggering a tsunami that killed 33,000 people in 1883. That is the exact scenario that Taal is gonna do if it erupts, as of now, the volcano island is still under alert level 1 and the eruption is still imminent based on the statistics of Phivolcs.
