What's an urban legend that surely amazed you or even made you believe that this might be true at some point? It might be an urban legend that came from your area of living or another part of the world.
Urban legends are circulated stories that are believed to be true. Some are even too good to be true when it comes to plot and everything around it. Most urban legends came from stories with wild imaginations to the point where these stories are interesting to tell and scared to know.
Most stories are actually from the native and since documenting certain issues wasn't a thing back then, it is hard to gather and understand specific details on how an urban legend started. But since people like stories, horror stories most likely, we tend to know them even if we don't believe in them.
As I like to hear podcasts about horror flicks, I came across some of the most insane urban legends. Here are some stories that might interest you:
"Skinwalkers"
If you're into the horror genre, this might be a new thing for you, if you never encountered a story like this. We all know cannibalism is a thing, which is considered to be an illegal action towards mankind, and it is still happening. Maybe it might not have been seen or heard on the news but in some parts, it still occurs.
By the way, if you ever came across the Navajo Nation, saying the word "Skinwalkers" is taboo. It is believed that saying the word, draws the attention of the creature itself.
So what is the Skinwalker? Many believed that these creatures are shape-shifting creatures. It is hard to believe that this part of humanity and many suspects that they are most likely physically structured as an extraterrestrial identity.
There was one case regarding the identity of skinwalkers when a Navajo woman was found dead. Fatal stab wounds were found all over her upper torso, her left breast was seen bitten off and her face was barely recognizable. The identity of the woman was a housekeeper and that night was her first time working a night shift. Later on, an English professor named Geroge Abney was arrested and confessed to the crime. However, the man is having difficulty when it comes to mental health since he can't distinguish the difference between dreams and reality. At some point, he explained about the prophecies of God and at other times, it was about the skinwalker. A year later, Abney was released from prison because of his "innocence". On my research, it is believed to have a lack of evidence, and even if Abney already confessed to the crime, his mental capability is disrupting the case. The case was reopened and up to this day, no one is responsible for the crime.
On the other hand, some people have claimed to see a skinwalker, themselves.
A biochemist named Colm Kelleher claimed to be one large creature in the shape of human spying on his research team on the night of March 12, 1997. Even when he said that the creature is about 50 yards away, he can see the yellow light on its unblinking eyes. He said that he fired at it but it went off in just a blink of an eye.
What do you think about this creature?
"The Dudleytown"
This one interests me. Like when I read about this one, I felt like it can be turned into a TV series. It's one of the stories where it goes on into anyone who falls for it. It's like a curse that will never die.
Located in Connecticut, United States, Dudleytown is known as an abandoned settlement. Many people like to consider it as a ghost town now, considering that no people at living in the area. And due to illegal activities like vandalism and trespassing, the government has decided to close it.
Back in the day, the horrifying crimes started when a man named Edmund Dudley was beheaded after fighting for the alleged overthrow of King Henry VIII. After the murder, a curse has been put on the Dudley clan as it will go on for generations. The family will experience bad luck in their lives. Needless to say, they all experienced horrifying scenes in their lives. After the incidents in the Dudley clan, several residents have left the area and never came back.
By the way, the Dudleytown is never believed to be a town, but an isolated part of Cornwall.
Fast forward to modern civilization, people who have been in the area have experienced terrible things. These include seeing dark shadows and disembodied voices. Few experts tried going to the area and want to debunk the idea of such scenes. In such a small place to live in, experts have no clue on how this small community has so many deaths. Many people were reported to experience trauma and some became insane for unknown reasons. Although the experts say that the idea of the curse being on Dudleytown was never true, reports are still ongoing by that time.
By the 1900s, the area was never seen with people living in it. Disturbing stories began in the 1940s. It started when visitors took photographs of strange things and see ghosts from the woods. There were even reports of lights coming from nowhere, the feeling of being touched, scratched, pushed, and watched by some creatures, and the negative atmosphere is all over the place.
Do you ever want to go to Dudleytown, in case it reopens for the public?
