TikTok - Is it Watching You?

Ever heard of an account profile named Peaches? The 19-year-old girl who did horrific things like murdering a dog, told a story about an abusing her daughter, getting involved in trafficking, and hiring a man to hurt Charlie D'Amelio?

From invisible filter challenges to satisfying and unsatisfying dance moves of some celebrities and other users, TikTok has been in the limelight ever since the start of the year. TikTok, like any other social media and video sharing and streaming app, is being liked by millions and has influenced many to start a career here and to entertain. The app is now placed in the 7th rank for being one of the most downloaded app in this decade. It made over 1 billion users attracted to its friendly social type of platform.

Is TikTok a good app for viewers?

Since TikTok uses a computer algorithm and many more data-collection acts, it is not possible that the app does something we don't know.

Let's talk about the account I said in the first sentence. The videos were no longer available as of now. And from what I heard, she got away with all those horrific actions for years. Even though most of her viewers thought about her actions as "funny", I don't think it's funny at all. Imagine a 19-year-old doing those things. You can never blame age. She is already 19 and has her own mind and understanding of things. But what concerns me most is the fact that TikTok didn't even try to take down her videos before even allowing it to be posted publicly which I think they should have. TikTok, like a Facebook group, should have an analysis of a video before it will be posted. I have posted some videos on my TikTok account and they really allowed everything. I know that the app somehow tried to bring security with young audiences or even to the majority of audience but they need to work it out. They need to consider the young ones who think that unappropriate actions are okay since many people are okay with it. Like what if an 8-year-old kid watched one video from Peaches and also flashed something in front of the camera? Can they just delete it and act as if nothing happened. Of course not, that kid will carry it until he grows up. It's like a gum in your shoes that goes with you anywhere you go.

So, Is TikTok watching you?

You might have heard of the news about TikTok being banned in the USA. And you're probably wondering why. Well, one of the reasons why is that the developers of the app are most likely to be Chinese. Chinese have the mind that no one will think they would have. They tend to think outside the box. This sends the alarm bells ringing for other governments. They thought that these people only invented or upgraded the app for investigation and tracking purposes. As I have said before, it uses an algorithm. Like the previous Facebook Messenger feature, location tagging is prone to the app. It might have seen where you went or what you did for the day.
