The Killer Clown

3 33

Pennywise from IT was one of the most popular fiction names for clowns ever to be made. But have you ever wonder if Pennywise is actually true in real life? Some of you might know this guy already but for some who absolutely have no idea who he is, I am about to tell you his story.

Before anything else, I would like to thank @Telesfor for the upvotes and comments he gave me, also to those other users who also commented on my first two articles. It gave me the determination I needed to pursue my writing career here. Thank you so much.

JOHN WAYNE GACY

"Clowns can get away with murder"

Born on the 17th of March, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, United States, Gacy was one of the most brutal serial killers and sex offenders of all time. Gacy had a very troubled childhood. His father would often get drunk in alcohol and beat him and his siblings if ever they misbehave. His mother was reported to be abused as well. This made the children go tough at everything as their father wanted them to be. In school, John had trouble making friends since he had a congenital heart condition which was considered by his father as a failure. He, later on, discovered that he was attracted to men and was beginning to question his sexuality.

Despite getting attracted to men, Gacy had a wife and was divorced twice. He had two biological children, alongside another two step-daughters. He worked as a fast-food chain manager in the 1960s and, in the Chicago suburbs in the 1970s, he worked as a self-made building contractor and Democratic precinct captain. He later became a member of the Jolly Joker clown club in Chicago and was seen performing alongside his buddies in costumes and makeups at parties and other events involving comedy acts for children and guests.

He dresses up as a clown to lure young men to fall into his traps. He uses his costume but later uses his alter-egos as well.

Gacy's first victim was a young boy, 16-year-old kid, Timothy McCoy, who he lured into his home that he went into confessing in killing him. But even though it was the first case, it was only discovered in 1972. In 1968, Gacy was convicted and imprisoned due to complaints about two young men who were sexually assaulted and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Gacy was out in prison due to parole in 1970 but was arrested a year after again due to another complaint. The case, however, was dismissed since the boy didn't appear in the trial. In the same year, another two young men accused Gacy of rape. This is where all speculations started and police were alarmed of Gacy's situation.

Gacy eventually confessed to killing about 30 men. Some remains of bodies were found near his house and some are in a nearby lake.

His trial began in the 6th of February, 1980. The jury was determined and concerned about the mental state of Gacy. He was then given 12 death sentences and 21 natural life sentences after confirming of 33 murders.

On May 10, 1994, Gacy died by lethal injection at Crest Hill, Illinois.
