A priest in Pampanga, Philippines, whose name has been withheld, has become the target of a viral video after a man accused him of having an affair with his partner, causing the regional archbishop to punish the clergyman.
Archbishop Florentino Lavarias has suspended a Roman Catholic priest from a parish as the Archdiocese of San Fernando begins an investigation into a man who suspected the cleric of having an affair with a certain woman.
A video that went viral on YouTube shows a man addressing the priest at the parish social hall. The man slammed his family portrait in front of the priest and surrendered things owned by his wife, as well as the wife herself. He also told him that one of the Ten Commandments said, "Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife." The priest apologized repeatedly to the man, but he got even more emotional and called the priest a "snake."
The man's son, who observed the whole incident, warned the priest that he would be arrested for having an affair with his mother. His mother was also present at the social hall, but she remained silent during the altercation.
The controversy broke last Monday (May 3) with the publication of a five-minute video showing a man yelling at his wife and the priest. The priest's only words were "I'm sorry.".
Priests are humans too.
However, the fact that he is preaching the words and rules of the Bible but doesn't follow them makes it more appalling. You cannot, ever, teach something you can't do on your own.
