The world is full of mysteries. From giants living on the land to sea creatures that can take up the size of a building to the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle. We exist in a world that is very modern and rational. If you think about it, religion or ghost stories don't have much room left. There's a reason why things go bump into the night. It makes sense how a universe was built. Everything has a logical or scientific explanation.
Science always has explanations for everything. Let's see what they have for us with these mysterious towns.
Villa Epecuen
Villa Epecuen was a village located on the eastern coast of Laguna Epecuén, approximately 7 km north of the city of Carhué, in the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Epecuén was built in the early 1920s and was accessible by train from Buenos Aires.
The town was Argentina's wealthiest destination for decades. Only 1.500 people could host at least 5,000 visitors in the city during its heyday. It has been not just comfortable but has also attracted visitors who are said to improve rheumatic and skin-related conditions with the presumed health benefits of the mineral water. These waters were often seen as "miraculous" in comparison with those from the Dead Sea and were the ideal place for a holiday. In the late 70s, Villa Epecuén had up to 25,000 tourists visiting every summer between November and March, including hotels, lodges, guesthouses, and a variety of stores.
All of this changed the time a dam broke, flooding the area with water below 30 feet, over 25 years overwhelming the city.
On 10th November 1985, during a storm, the dam broke because of several strong winds, which prevented the otherwise calm waters. The water increased at half an hour per inch, and the wall gave up for good after two weeks. It was necessary to evacuate the premises and abandoned homes and businesses.
Every building has a white residue left with its high levels of salt in the water that makes this entire village white and a true ghost city.
Angikuni Lake
Lake Angikuni is the Kivalliq lake in Canada, Nunavut. It's one of the multiple lakes along the Kazan River; Lake Ennadai is on the south and Lake Yathkyed on the north.Lake Angikuni is the Kivalliq lake in Canada, Nunavut.
Anjikuni was quickly converted into a residence for the Inuit people; it quickly became a colony and was almost immediately popular on a cold day in 1930 November. A Canadian fur trapper, Joe Labelle was more than a high-tech person, who spent a lot of time outside.
Joe noticed a fire a long way away and inspected it; the fire appeared to burn for a considerable amount of time. After further inquiry, he found that somebody began the great training, but couldn't finish.
LaBelle went into the village to bump into someone who could tell her what was going on. Taking his uncontrollable feelings out, Joe begins an investigation into the homes of the Inuit to find any indices concerning the silence and decides to leave the village suddenly and quickly!
Hoer Verde
More than 600 people disappeared in 1923 from the town of Hoer Verde, Brazil and no explanation for the mystery still exists today. All the buildings, including the well-built homes, have been abandoned by travelers who have crossed the city. There were no signs of an ambush or abduction – just a blackboard in school, written in the crayon "There is no salvation."
The story occurs in the jungle of Brazil in 1923 when visitors to the village of Hoer Verde enter the small town and immediately notice how dead it was. Nobody was walking through the streets unlike other villages in the area with similarly large populations of 600+. Hanging signs in the wind was all that could be heard and the uncomfortable footsteps of the visitors. It was obvious straight away that something was wrong as they passed through local homes and looked in the windows. None could be seen, doors and windows were open in some instances, but undamaged otherwise.
Police were called and investigators came down to the village to look around. When they arrived at the town school, they found a weapon that they had to examine forensically. They realized after a cursory exam that it was fired last day, but they were not sure of that.
The 600 villagers in the little town were followed by a manhunt. However, none of the local people have ever been discovered.
