Last Halloween, since gatherings are not really allowed because of the pandemic, my friends and I decided to spend the night in the forest, rather than in the city. Although we already knew what will come and most adults said that it's going to be dangerous, we still went there.
So we live in the countryside so most of the time, you will see trees and greens. The forest is not that far from us but I can guarantee you that it's really big. It's like you can build another community area there. The forest looks like paradise brought down from heaven in the morning. You will see birds and a lot of wild animals that are obviously prohibited to be touched. It's a great view to look at first thing in the morning.
It was 7:00 pm. The Halloween celebration was not that loud and noisy since we are experiencing a lot of precautions to take. So it was me, my three best friends, and two cousins, we take our walk in the forest.
At the first half of the walk, it was still ok. There was still light coming from the post which was nice because the entrance is a little bit rough to walk on because of rocks and leaves everywhere. As we go on, obviously, my cousins were already scaring us with howls and scary names. I was not afraid of that because I like horror films. I like the scare and I laugh when two of my best friends started to punch my cousins because of scaring them.
There was a complete silence within five minutes. I think it's because of that there's like this siren from the police which tells people to stay inside that we can hear from where we are since it was very loud.
Since I was in front of everybody, I am not looking too much from behind. But there was a pinch inside of me that told me to look back. As I looked back, it was the moment I realized that my two cousins are not around anymore. I told my friends and they were shocked as well. They started hugging me, telling me to go back and just go home. But I can't go home unless I have those family relatives of mine.
I started yelling and calling their names but all I can hear is an echo and some little screams from my friends. It made me angry and I shouted at them because I'm starting to panic.
I told them to stay behind my back and just look around just in case one of them turns up. All of a sudden, I heard my friend telling me that a shadow was behind a tree and that it might be one of them. I started running towards the shadow and it looked that it was walking towards us also. I confirmed that it was a man but it wasn't the same shape as neither one of my cousins. My cousins are on their 15 and the man is shaped like a 40-year-old man. It was then I realized that it was not only us in the forest at that time. I told them to run as fast as they can but still behind my back because they don't know the way back.
As I run, trying to catch my breath, I still look back and I still can see the man. He's not running, he's not walking but he looks like he's just a few meters away from us. All of a sudden, I see the lights from the post that indicates we are few inches more to get to the entrance of the forest. I know that it's just seconds to get in there but as I run and run, I was just running but still in the same place. When I look back, the man wasn't there anymore, only when I turned my head, he's beside me. I screamed on top of my lungs and run faster.
But due to not focusing on the front, I ran in front of the tree, making me dizzy, up until my eyes started to close. As my eyes closed, I still saw the man, all black, looking at me.
When I woke up, it's already daytime. My mom asked me what happened but I decided not to tell her. As I was about to utter a word, she said that they found me at the entrance of the forest. My friends can't remember anything which made me shocked. My cousins walked in the door so I asked why they left us behind but their response to me was they were never out that night.
