Collimator: Introduction
Collimator is a device used for changing the diverging light or other radiation from a point source into a parallel beam. This collimation of the light is needed to make specialized measurements in spectroscopy and in geometric and physical optics.
The optical collimator has a tube having convex lens at one end and an adjustable aperture at the other end. The radiation when it enters the aperture leaves the collimator as a parallel beam, so that the image can be viewed without parallax.
A collimator can be used in radiology as an arrangement of absorbers to limit the beam of x-rays, gamma rays, or nuclear particles to the required dimensions and angular spread.
Collimator is used in applications such as optical testing, nuclear power stations, and x-ray machines, among many other applications

Collimator Market to Expand in the Automobile Industry
The automobile industry is expected to grow at a higher rate due to advanced lighting technologies used in vehicles, such as LED and laser for headlamps adopted by manufacturers to distinguish their product from competitors, thus helping to drive the collimator market. Hence, increasing penetration of LED headlamps for automobiles offers good business opportunities.
Adoption of collimator based LED lighting systems in the automobile industry helps to reduce energy consumption compared to conventional fluorescent lamps. This increases the use of LEDs in light and display measurement and spectrometer devices.
Asia Pacific to Lead the Collimator Market
Asia Pacific leads the collimator market. Countries such as China, Japan, India, and South Korea are the main contributors to the growth of the collimator market. Increasing applications of collimators in medical imaging and industrial radiography adds to the growth of the collimator market in Asia Pacific.
Adoption of collimating lenses in LED headlamps which is used in vehicles and in neutron, gamma-ray, and x-ray imaging applications, also affects the growth of the market.
Rise in demand for collimator devices in fiber optics and in spectrometer devices as a telescope, besides technological advancements in medical imaging technology, are responsible for the growth of the collimator market in Asia Pacific
Collimated LED light sources can be used in commercial microscopic devices which increases the demand for high-end microscopy systems in various applications. Increasing demand for collimating lenses in China and India positively impacts the growth of the collimator market in Asia Pacific.
Collimator lenses are used in measuring displays which includes color analysis, white point adjustment, and flicker, which provides stable measurement data and high repeatability. This contributes to the production of high-quality displays, thereby driving the collimator market
