Longest war in history! Reconquista (711-1492) Europe at this time was unstabilized since the fall of Rome a few hundreds previously. While Christianity was weakening, the Muslims were gaining power. In the year 711 the Muslims caliphate invaded spain (Iberian Peninsula) in just 7 years, most of Spain was Conquered. The Muslim were able to hold onto Iberian Peninsula for over 300 years. During the age of the Crusaders during 11th century. The holy Roman Catholic empire was gaining power in Europe at this time. The Christian states formed a coalitions to Conquer back Spain. by the 12th century, the crusaders were able to Conquer half of Spain. The Muslim empire kept hold of the other half, and the conflict halted into a stalemate. during the during the 12th century onward the Muslim world was loosing it's strengths. during the 15th century another christian campaign was formed, and by 1492 the Christians had won, taking back Spain. Around 7,000,000-10,000,000 people lost their lives!
