Banana grows more or less in all the districts of Bangladesh. However, Narsingdi, Munshiganj, Bogra, Jessore, Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh are widely cultivated. Bananas are cultivated in about 40,000 hectares of land in Bangladesh from which more than 6 lakh tons of bananas are produced annually. Bananas are rich in vitamins and minerals. Bananas also contain more calories than other crops. Banana is cultivated almost everywhere in Bangladesh. Banana is eaten raw as a curry and ripe as a fruit. There is a huge demand for patient diet. Banana production technologies are soil and land preparation, planting time and planting of seedlings, fertilizer application method, interim care etc.
