Every country has its own culture that differs from other country. It has a set of values, principles, and even laws that maybe different from yours. That's why understanding one's own culture is very important.
As I've watched the video, I understand that Cultural Relativism is not judging other culture based on our own perspective of what is right and wrong. It's not viewing their culture based on our own culture. Rather, it is understanding and accepting the culture they have. I've also learned that Ethnocentrism is the vice versa of Cultural Relativism. It is viewing other culture based on our own culture.
For us to have a better understanding and communication with other people around the world. We should practice this Cultural Relativism and reject Ethnocentrism. It is important to know first the culture of other people so that we can understand where they're coming from. Judging them will not be helpful and can cause chaos.
We are all humans, we need basic commodities to survive, we learn new things, we commit mistakes and many more. If we want others to respect us, we should also respect them. As what the saying says, "Respect begets respect." So, I believe that respecting and accepting other cultures are not hard to do and it is the right thing to do for us to attain a better world.
