The game features an open-world environment and action-based battle system using elemental magic and character-switching, the game also uses gacha game monetization for players to obtain new characters, weapons, and other resources.
PVP is an abbreviation used in online games which means"Player Versus Player". This term refers to games which see one or more human players compete against other live players. Meanwhile Genshin Impact is a PVE game or "Player Versus Environment" it is a term used for both single player and online games, particularly MMORPGs, CORPGs, MUDs, and other online role-playing video games and survival games to refer to fighting computer-controlled enemies—in contrast to PvP.
In an official statement made by miHoYo developers announced June 27, 2019 it is stated that: "Gameplay modes like PVP multiplayer or intense one-on-one battles will not be our future priorities either. Yes i agree that PvP makes the game more fun and vast however in the case of Genshin Impact, many players misunderstood the game's mechanics and i absolutely disagree in having a PvP mode for Genshin Impact because good PvP also need good netcode as to minimize delay/latency/jitter amongst players from around the world. As a long time miHoYo fan, PvP is not a main focus in any of their games so far. The closest thing we have to PvP is the Infinity Abyss mode in Honkai Impact 3rd (https://honkaiimpact3.mihoyo.com/global/en-us/home.) It is a PVE mode but the competition with floors based on how well you do and how 'high' you can get is like PvP wherein you compete with other live players based on performance.
If somehow at somepoint miHoYo will add PVP elements in the game, i hope that PVE mechanics still stand tall. I don't want to see my precious characters fighting over each other and it does not connect well to the story and lore. Instead, we should use PVP elements like racing, archery, gliding, fastest swimmer, and etc. just no fighting. We can use hilichurls to fight with each other instead. >///<
