Opinion: Importance and effects of anointing the sick

0 14

The sacrament of anointing the sick is essential because it gives the person strength and courage to fight through the sickness and see the healing of God. In the process of healing, people experience greater peace and freedom because God let His grace flow into their lives. Likewise, it restores their physical bodies as well as their souls at the approach of death or helps them to die in a state of grace. Thus, if we are anointed before death, it will complete the condition of our soul and journey to the earth because God prepared us to have eternal life. We are healed spiritually and physically because we are anointed. As what was said in James 5:14–15 "Is any man sick among you? Let him bring in the priests of the church and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick man.” Therefore the effects of this sacrament on the sick person include spiritual comfort, the forgiveness of sins, strength, and courage to accept illness as well as relief from anxiety. This  sacrament reminds the people to give importance to the life that He gave us and to treasure, the remaining time in our lives live on earth.
