How crucial is the HR Department in a company?

 People are the most important aspect and a great resource of the company. It will not utilize its resources if there are no people working as well as contributing to achieving the goals and strategies of the company. That’s why it is crucial to have an HR department in the company to be able to manage the development of the employees as well as the performance that at the same time aligns in meeting the goals of the company. Therefore, the Human Resource department is the foundation of the company, its approach to utilizing the manpower is not only for the benefit of the organization but also for the growth, development, and self-satisfaction of the concerned people.

How valuable is the tradition of promotion from within and how disruptive will it be to deviate from the tradition? What are the advantages and risks of promoting from within in this situation?

An organization that promotes from within has the opportunity to identify the characteristics, qualifications, and skills it wants in the team or specific tasks. Promoting from within boosts the morale of the employees because they see that their hard work and effort are paying off. The company also benefits in saving time and money because there’s no need for recruiting costs as well it is faster than filling the vacant positions through external recruitment. Given that most of the employees already have a clear understanding of the expectations and practices of the company, it will be easier to measure and evaluate the staff performance before making a recommendation for a promotion. When the employees know that they can be promoted any time in the given tradition, then it will keep them motivated to do their best before their performance evaluation and this given opportunity will lead to higher retention of employees. This approach will help everyone feel like they are reaching toward a common goal which is for the overall growth of the company. However, it will cause misunderstandings and arguments if ever the company’s tradition of promoting within will not be followed, and choose to recruit employees externally.
