6 Segments of General Business Environment
How are you going to relate P.P.E (Personal Protective Equipment) in the six segments of the general environment?
1. Demographic Segment
A. Population size.
With the emergence of the pandemic, PPE became a vital gear in the containment of the virus. Moreover, the number of individuals who wanted to have extra health protection and prevent the infection of the disease increases thus the demand for PPEs was also seen to be rapidly growing.
B. Age Structure.
It is noticeable that there’s minimal protection gear given for children and for some instances it's difficult to find the appropriate size for them (like for the face masks and face shields). Thus, this thing should be included as one of the priorities especially when the time comes for face-to-face classes. Eventually, schools will be reopened and students need to attend their physical classes thus, they will need to have extra protection inclined with the government’s safety health protocols.
C. Geographic Distribution.
One of the concerns in this time of pandemic is the short supply of PPE’s and due to this, health care workers are forced to reuse their worn-out protective suits in order to continuously serve the COVID-positive patients. Some locations of health care facilities especially in rural areas were not given enough attention and the help needed does not even reach them. As the number of cases increases, they are not able to procure the necessary PPE’s as well as other health care kits and this leads them to desperately cry and ask for help thus, the government must focus on this matter to protect the lives of everyone and for the containment of the outbreak.
D. Ethnic Mix.
Due to racism and xenophobia, some countries are afraid to negotiate and ask for PPEs and other health care necessities from China as this may be brought health risks and fear to its people. Thus, this results in the decreasing sales of China for PPEs and decrease importations of a certain product for some countries.
E. Income Distribution.
As people have various income capacity or level of financial wealth, some does not have a privilege to pay for the PPEs. Thus, this affects the overall sales of the producers of PPEs as some do not reach the set living standards, and buying PPEs may not be even on the list of their priorities.
2. The Economic Segment.
In order to gain economic success during this time of the pandemic, countries must not take advantage of the production of PPEs. Moreover, they may engage in trading in order to acquire the needed PPEs supply of the country while building great relations with the other neighboring countries. Furthermore, healthy competitions will urge them to continually innovate and improve the PPEs and other health care kits that will aid solutions to the increasing health care problems brought by the pandemic.
3. The Political and Legal Segments.
As some countries set some barriers to trade, it is expected that there will be no free-flowing of goods and services. In order to resolve this problem, the government and other trading firms/countries must meet halfway in implementing the policies that will benefit them mutually and this will be done through lifting the trade barriers thus, have trade liberalization.
4. The Social and Cultural Segments.
With the use of PPEs, individuals can freely socialize and connect with other people while abiding by the health protocols of the government. During this time, wearing PPEs became a social responsibility in order to start “living” once again with other people and be reconnected. However, some people are quite relaxed, some are more cautious and others seem like they do not care; with the latter, this belief will lead various people at risk and will possibly affect the operation as well as the production of the business.
5. The Advance in Technology Segments.
Due to the ever-changing world of technology, countries may now innovate and develop more effective protection gears that will aid health care workers as well as normal citizens. Various types of protective equipment may be invented where it offers comfort as well as provide stronger health protections with minimal health risks and the possibility of acquiring the disease.
6. The World of Business Segments.
Globalization took a huge part in the economic success of countries all around the world. Moreover, international relations are crucial in various aspects including trading as this will help free-flowing of goods and services through import and export. Thus, this will also encourage peaceful and stable negotiations between countries as long as they both agreed upon the same policies for mutual gains.
