Leh in Ladakh, the northern most tip of India. It is like a world in itself. Completely different topography. The clouds play shadow games all the time with the entire city. Definitely a place worth visiting.
May is the best time of the year to visit this city. The temperatures are normally in single digits. June July are summer seasons with day temperatures feeling high, given the city is 11500 feet above sea level.
The entire no way is serene with beautiful stones painted by locals. The picture above is one such example. There are many monasteries in the city worth seeing. The thiksey monetary is worth a visit with a huge Buddha statue.
This is the beautifully colourful huge buddha statue as tall as 3 floors high. The entire city has road travels with the roads maintained by the army. So the roads are lovely and smooth.
Pangong Lake another serene place to visit while visiting Leh. The lake is about 4-5 hours drive from Leh with the entire road having mountains on one side and river running on the other side. You get to see wild horses and murmuts the large rodents. At the lake itself, 1/3rd of the water is in India while the remaining falls in Tibet, China. Different times of the day reflect different colours of the water. Hence it is recommended to at least stay 1 night at the lake. There are plenty of options available with luxury tents.
