Novi Financial is a subsidiary of Facebook that operates independently from Facebook, and is headquartered in Menlo Park, California.
Novi Financial was founded with the mission of making money work better for everyone. the new name and brand for the digital wallet that will help people send and hold Libra/Calibra digital currencies.
Built on a secure, scalable, and reliable blockchain that gives people equal access to financial services.
Whether you’re sending money home to support the family members who supported you, or you’re receiving money from your friends no matter where they are, the Novi wallet will make money work better for everyone.
Novi was inspired by the Latin words “novus” for “new” and “via” for “way.” It’s a new way to send money, and Novi’s new visual identity and design represent the fluid movement of digital currencies.
Here you can watch a video created by them explaining the project:

With Novi, sending money will be as easy as sending a message. You’ll be able to use Novi as a stand-alone app, as well as in Messenger and WhatsApp
There will be no hidden charges to add, send, receive or withdraw money and your transfers will arrive instantly.
All Novi customers will be verified using government-issued ID, and fraud protections will be built in throughout the app.
What do I need to get started?
When Novi is available, you will need a government-issued ID to sign up for an account. Identity verification is important to comply with laws and prevent fraud, so you know people are who they say they are.
How can I use Novi?
Novi will be available as a stand-alone app in the App Store and Google Play.
Will Novi charge fees?
What you send is what they get. You can add, send, receive, and withdraw money from your wallet without worrying about hidden charges.
Novi is cutting fees to help people keep more of their money.
Where is Novi available?
The goal is to make Novi available to everyone, anywhere in the world. We’re working to bring Novi to as many countries as possible, as soon as the Libra network is available.
Can I use my local currency in Novi?
Novi is designed for the Libra payment system, so when you send and spend your money, you’ll be using Libra digital currencies. Through Novi, you can use your local currency to purchase Libra, and also convert Libra back to your local currency when you want to withdraw.
How will prevent fraud?
Accounts and transactions are verified, and fraud prevention is built in throughout the app.
Novi uses government-issued IDs to verify customers, so you can trust people are who they say they are.
Novi also has in-app reporting and dedicated customer care. In the event of fraud, you will be eligible to receive a full refund.
Can I still use Novi if I don’t have a Facebook, WhatsApp, or Messenger account?
Yes. Novi will also be available as a stand-alone app that does not require you to have a Facebook, WhatsApp, or Messenger account — you just need a government-issued ID to sign up.
Can businesses use Novi?
Novi will support peer-to-peer payments. Over time, additional merchant services will help businesses big and small accept Libra online, in-app, and in-store.
What are the digital currencies supported by the Libra payment system?
Initially, the Libra payment system will support only a few digital currencies, such as ≋USD, ≋GBP and ≋EUR, which will have the same value in the country’s respective currency (e.g. 1 USD, 1 GBP, 1 EUR).
The Libra payment system will also support a combination of these digital currencies, ≋LBR. Over time, the Libra payment system intends to support additional digital currencies.
