EASY homemade Shawarma from scratch using easily available products. Yey!!!
THE INGREDIENTS
Here's what you need:
I. PITA BREAD:
1.) All Purpose Flour (2 cups)
2.) Baking Powder (1 tablespoon)
3.) Salt (1 teaspoon)
4.) Oil (1 tablespoon)
5.) Water (250 mL water)
II. MEAT STUFFING:
6.) Ground Beef / Longganisa (1/2 kilo)
7.) Oyster Sauce (2 tablespoons)
8.) Beef Cube (1 piece)
9.) Garlic (amount according to preference)
10.) Red Onion (amount according to preference)
II. OTHER INGREDIENTS FOR SHAWARMA STUFFING:
11.) Tomato (3 to 4 pieces) *preferably very ripe ones
12.) Cucumber (2 pieces)
13.) White Onion (1 big bulb) *or use can use Red onions too!
14.) Cabbages! (1 big bulb)
15.) Cheesewiz or Solid Cheese (1 piece)
16.) Mayonaise (amount according to preference)
HOW TO COOK
I. PITA MAKING:
a.) Mix all the ingredients together. Mix well. Make sure that there are no air bubbles.
b.) Preheat your non-stick pan! *No need to use oil!
You can use a regular pan, but you need to add only a small amount of oil!! I recommend you only brush the pan!
c.) Now spread and shape your batter! Make sure that it is THINLY and EVENLY laid out.
Be careful though! You don't want it to be too thick or too thin!
d.) Flip the bread until you see brown spots on it!
Note: This is the chewy-type of Pita bread.

II. MEAT STUFFING PREPARATION:
a.) Saute ground beef/longganisa with garlic and onion.
b.) Add the beef cube.
c.) Add oyster sauce.
d.) Season to taste.
e.) Simmer it until dry!
It is important for the meat to be quite dry because you don't want the juicy bits to make holes in the pita!

III. ASSEMBLING:
It's simple!
a.) Slice the veggies very thinly.
b.) Place the Pita bread in a plate, make a "bed" out of the cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbages and onions.
Make sure that you cover only 1/3 of the Pita bread and place it in the middle! This is done so that you can still roll the Pita Bread! :)
c.) Place the meat on top of the veggies.
d.) Add the Mayo and Cheese!
