Puppetry is a game, transferring the properties of the living world into an artistic, symbolic discourse, for the sake of a better and more alive relationship, a reflection of what our reality is. It, like any art, should not only teach us something, enlighten us, it is enough to amaze us, pamper us, establish a new sensitivity.
The doll was born from the creative impulse of man and his desire to prove, materialize the human consciousness and subconscious. Even in the Laws (IV century BC), the philosopher Plato wrote that each of us, representatives of living beings, should be considered a puppet of divine origin, but that we can not know whether the gods created it solely for their play and entertainment or had some serious intention.
The oldest dolls were found in Egyptian tombs, 4000 years ago. In India, we find traces of the first puppet shows in the service of religious rituals as early as the 9th century BC. Sutradhara is their name and means a man who pulls strings. According to legend, India is the cradle of puppetry, and from there the puppet was transferred by the Persians to Greece, and then to Rome. Ancient dolls were made in temples, and medieval ones in churches, so that they would soon lose their religious significance and go to the squares.
There is a living and magical world in us, which can reveal something new to us at any moment - that puppetry should depict. It can teach us that when we live ourselves with our whole soul, life becomes a miracle. By realizing our potentials, correcting our character, building and enriching our personality, expanding our hearts in love and giving - as opposed to investing in external, material things - as puppeteers move a doll, we revive and move ourselves. Opposite to that stands, in his darkness of burden and care, a dead and empty man, motionless, always the same, dissatisfied and unhappy, from which at least comes grumbling.
That is why a puppet theater is needed. He is there to wake us up, to bring us back, to remind us that reality is not just a visible segment and a dry everyday life, but an incredible magic.
The puppet is like a musical instrument and if you are an honest actor you will dedicate yourself to him, and he will really play, because it is necessary to give life to one such being.
