Today we're going to take a brief look at the upcoming HASHWallet, which is another crypto hardware wallet soon to release with an Indiegogo page for investors.
The big difference with this wallet is its design and approach. Instead of the traditional USB stick with a PIN, they're using biometric fingerprint scanning to log in and verify transactions on a thin electronic smart card that fits in your wallet. In any secure environment, this prevents any problems from happening if you lost your wallet and or someone found out your password or PIN with other wallets.
I currently have a Ledger Nano X which uses USB-C and Bluetooth as well as the SafePal S1, which utilizes QR code scanning to authenticate. As you can tell, I definitely, like testing out different styles of wallets, and I still use them to this day. The thing I lack is something that could easily and comfortably fit in my wallet, and I could treat like any other card. While I do have VISA cards from Bitvo and Localcoin, I wouldn't be able to fund them on the go without one of my hardware wallets. I don't like bringing around my other hardware wallets because I could lose them more easily or break them if they're hanging on my keys. That's why the concept here is the most intriguing aspect to me. Also, what jumps out at me is how much faster it seems to be to utilize, which is perfect for people who want access when they're out and have it in their wallet.
While the concept is interesting, let's actually look at its features. This is an honest breakdown of the differences from HASHWallet and other wallets: https://www.gethashwallet.com/features/compare
From what I can tell, it has a larger screen than any other wallet out there currently. It uses Bluetooth & NFC connected to your phone like most wallet managers do today. It's non-programmable and is rated as an EAL6+ secure element, while programmable wallets are riskier and thus many are rated as EAL5+ secure elements. They also have CE, FCC, and RoHS certifications too. There's a lot more information on their security and hardware specifications for those interested in more in-depth information: https://www.gethashwallet.com/features/specifications
In short, though, you can use it on PC or mobile with any operating system, it supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and all ERC-20 tokens. They also have a ton of cryptocurrencies in the works to be added as seen here: https://www.gethashwallet.com/hashwallet/crypto-assets
Its private key is also unknown to anyone, randomized internally in a way that can't be replicated, and you cannot extract it. This makes it essentially invulnerable to external attacks which is awesome because if you're going to spend a lot of money on a hardware wallet, you're probably wanting the best security possible for it, like me. They also have a more unique and simplified recovery process without requiring a 24-word master seed which is nice to see.
Where it bites a bit is the price tag, which is $168 USD during the Indiegogo campaign. It is on the higher end of the price spectrum. Still, there are models equally expensive on other hardware wallet product lineups. You're paying more for the ease of use and biometric technology.

I already signed up to get the 30% off and a free vault service which is like a recovery premium service.
Anyways let me know what your thoughts are on the HASHWallet. I’m a huge biometric security enthusiast as a university graduate with a Bachelor of Information Technology, I’ve always loved biometrics. Having biometric access to my phone and PC to log in and avoid using a password or PIN. It’s extremely faster especially considering how long my passwords are. Even more importantly, I use it with LastPass for all my logins and it saves a ridiculous amount of time. Needless to say, I’m absolutely keen on getting one and would love to take full advantage of its biometric capabilities.
What did you think of the HASHWallet? Would you get one? Do you prefer this credit card style for a hardware wallet? Is biometric access important to you? Let me know in the comments below.
