My January monthly resolution challenges have come to an end and I wanted to reflect on them and share my experience with quitting coffee and taking cold showers. How have your resolutions been going?
With trying to quit drinking coffee I realized that simply saving coffee for special occasions was all I really had to do to better my health and it helped me internalize the benefits of good sleep.
Severely limiting my coffee intake helped me cut out the majority of caffeine I was having as well as save a ton of money on coffee so if you are trying to improve your health or save money, this is a great one for you to try and tackle.
Doing this also helped me realize the benefits of tackling bite size challenges over 30-day periods and how much easier it is to incorporate it into my routine and how much less overwhelming these tasks seem to be.
For cold showers, I know most of you cringe at the thought, but I’ve seen so many benefits from cold showers that I have to list them out in bullet points:
Improved cardiovascular health
Helps you regulate and improve your range of tolerance for various temperatures
Increased my tolerance for things that irritated me thinking that well if this cold shower is potentially the worst thing that happens to me all day, then I’ve already gotten through the worst of it
Helps a lot for limiting the issues in dealing with dry itchy skin, especially in the winter
Helps you improve your mental aptitude and willpower to overcome the “flinch”
Saves water and money when you spend less time showering and have more time for everything else
