Just Another Love Story

She was just a lowly slave so never in her wildest thought she ever imagined that one day she’ll ever fall in love nor a man would love her too. She only focused every day on the tasks assigned to her, so she never had time to think about love. Her only concern is to do well in the works that are assigned to her. Her only goal is to save up enough money so that one day, she would also be able to pay off the debt of his parents to his master which is why he became a slave in that family.

But one day to her surprise, her master said that he would sell her, but she will no longer be just a slave, instead she would be one of the concubines of the man who would buy her. She became dejected, unable to know what to do or react. She wanted to protest because she didn’t want to live a life as a concubine. She didn’t want to lose her dignity. Yes, she’s just a lowly slave but her dignity was very important to her, because it was all she held on due to the lack of material things that she could be proud of.

She could barely sleep that night thinking about what might happen next. That afternoon, her fellow slave told her to fix her belongings because the person who had bought her would pick her up after two days. She thought of running away, but she doesn’t have the courage to do so. She knows how ruthless her master is and she knows that he will never hesitate to let his assassins kill her if ever she defy his order.

She consoled herself by thinking that maybe that was really her destiny. Come to think of it, that would be better than being a slave for the rest of her life. And at least there, her life was pretty comfortable.

The next morning, she had dark circles due. Her eyes is hurting and her head seemed to be throbbing with pain due to lack of sleep. But she forced herself to get up because she could do nothing. She’s just a lowly slave so there is no time for her to slack off.

While fetching water from a well in the yard, she almost screamed when suddenly someone pulled her and covered her mouth. When she realizes who it is,she can’t help but to stare at him . He is one of the guards outside the house. She once caught him staring at her when she is returning after running an errand outside. She also once he admired him and his trustworthiness but she knew it was impossible for just a slave to fall in love so she removed that thought and became contented of just glancing at him from afar every once in a while.

But what is he doing now?

“I can't bear to see the master sell you to that businessman. That man is known for being a womanizer. And those he lost interest with are found dead after a few days. I don’t want that to happen to you. Please, marry me. I have loved you for a long time but because of our situation, I know that is impossible. But now, the Young Master has promised to help us. Tonight we will escape. If you like me too, please meet me tonight on the hill. I will wait under the mango tree. I'm sure you know where it is. "

"But ...."

"Shhhh. Don't be afraid, as I said the Young Master will help us. See, he's looking at us now."

And as she turned to her right, there she saw their young master. He smiled at her when their eyes met and gave them a thumbs up. So she smiled back too.

'Maybe this is the chance for me to be happy too. ' She thought. 

Maybe this is an opportunity to escape from her bitter fate. She nodded to show that she liked the idea and the proposal offered to her.
