I started a faceless YouTube channel. You can read more about it, my journey to growing it to 300K subscribers in a year, and my experience selling it:
The Stats…
This faceless YouTube channel I choose to keep anonymous.
It’s in a trendy niche with a lot of competition already. I know sharing it in a public forum will probably increase the competition even more.
But, I’ll still share with you all the numbers from my dashboard:
How much I made
I won’t delay this any further. Here’s a full screenshot of my video analytics page on YouTube, showing how much I earned in YouTube Adsense earnings.
As you see, I made ZERO from YouTube Adsense.
How the heck?
How is this possible?
This is how..
The niche I’m in cannot be monetized with YouTube Adsense. This is common in some faceless niches, like the rain videos I see all over Tik Tok. I’m sure some of the rain accounts are monetized if they were started a while back but today, I doubt they’d be able to get monetized.
I actually started a soothing sounds faceless YouTube channel. This was another account of mine.
I used copyright-free videos from Pexels and put them on a loop for hours. There was no background music, just the sound from the video which would be like wind blowing, rain drops, etc.
The idea was to have people play these videos when they wanted to wind down, relax, or get ready for bed. They are good for background noise when you’re working and they’re nice just to mellow out to.
Best of all, people listen to them for a long time. If you pop in a few ads during that time, it’s an easy way to make a lot from YouTube Adsense.
Anyway, I tried to monetize it and couldn’t. This was about a year ago. That’s why I doubt new accounts in this genre would be able to get approved for ads.
So, back to my faceless channel with the 68 million viewed video.
I earned nothing from YouTube Adsense but, that doesn’t mean I didn’t make money from other sources.
Earning from the affiliate marketing gods
First, affiliate marketing.
This is an opportunity to make money by placing links in the video and other videos on the channel. When visitors click your affiliate link and buy, you will earn a small commission.
I got a LOT of clicks to my affiliate links on this video.
I was linking to a few different Amazon products along with a YouTube creator tool, my kofi link where people can donate money to me if they like my work, and my subscribe link.
Hello sponsorships
Next, sponsorship income.
This is when you work with brands who pay you to feature them in an ad in your video.
I did a lot of sponsorships as a result of this video.
During the last year I’ve probably done dozens of sponsorship campaigns that paid anywhere from $40 to $50 for an end screen to up to $450 for a preroll ad.
Final word
All in all, I made under $3,000 as a result of this video.
If I had the time, I would’ve been more proactive with the sponsorships. You can reach out to your favorite brands and pitch sponsorship campaigns. This is pretty effective, believe it or not.
If I could rewind time, I would’ve done that.
I still can to be honest but, if it was closer to the release date of that viral video, I think the response rate would be higher.
Anyway, that’s how much I made from that 68 million viewed video.
Is it higher or lower than you thought?
