One unique ordinary Bangladeshi! Doubt whether such a person will ever be born in the history of Bengal!

His name is Chaifur Rahman. He was a cook by profession. Not a very good chef. The chefs of the Chapra house next to the very rural market called Salutikar in Sylhet eat the food every day. His second job was driving a wheelbarrow. He used to drive a wheelbarrow when he could not earn any income by cooking. But this man had unparalleled courage. He used to do absolutely populist politics on any issue. Suppose the bus fare from Salutikar to the city is increased. Chaifur Rahman will tie a mic at Court Point and hold a protest meeting that afternoon.

Call yourself a slave of Allah. He was known as Chaifur Rahman. From MP to President, from President to Upazila Chairman or below to fight for the post of UP Chairman; Although these games created humor among the people, he is a heroic freedom fighter and eloquent speaker.

He was an impossibly funny person as a speaker. Speak in rhythm. Then do a lot of jokes about the main issue; But the demand will remain with him.

Crowds of ordinary working people used to listen to his speeches. So after the speech he would take out a piece of cloth and put it in front of him. Then he would tell everyone in the regional language of Sylhet, I am campaigning for you, who will pay for my mic? Mike pays the cost.

Oddly enough, it's never been too late for Mike's expenses to rise. Two rupees, one rupees would fill the cloth in front of him. Then when it became three hundred rupees the cost of the mic went up; He would take off his clothes.

Many a time he used to sell books written by him and raise money for public meetings. He had a few books of strange sizes. The name of one of the cooks wants to be president. On the back of the book is a black-and-white picture of him gritting his teeth and face.

Chaifur Rahman first attracted attention in the early eighties as a candidate in the presidential election. Then the president would be elected through direct elections in the country. So the police were given along for the safety of all the presidential candidates. Chaifur refused to give them to the police for his safety, saying, "I can't afford to feed them." However, under government pressure, he had to be taken with at least two policemen.

At that time you could see two constables on either side of the rickshaw and Chaifur Rahman sitting somewhere high in the middle of the rickshaw.

Didn't do badly in the election. In that presidential election, he was number eight out of 70-75 candidates. Then he said in an interview, I am the number eight president of the country. I could have been president if the other seven had died on election day.

Strange and funny were all his election promises. For example, there is no need to pave any roads in the country! You have to clear the road and make a canal there! People will travel by boat through that canal in the riverine country! The canal water will be irrigated - an easy solution to all problems.

If he could somehow come to power, he promised to hang a huge scale on the Surma river in Sylhet. Will open an office next to the palla and appoint an officer; Whose job will be to appoint an officer in Sylhet, first weigh him on the scales and keep records in the office. After six months of the year, he will be raised again. If it is seen that he has gained weight, then it can be clearly understood that he has made a body by eating Ghosh from the people of Sylhet. And the proclamation officer has no protection.

He used to stand on a tool at Court Point in Sylhet and often entertain the people with his speeches.

His party was called the Islamic Socialist Party. No member was taken in that group. He did not even make his wife a member. He used to say, if there is more than one person, the team will be divided into two.

Six has been selected six times several times. He was never given importance; Everyone took it as a funny candidate. But he was elected in Sylhet Sadar Upazila in 1990 Upazila Election. He was a stunt.

As usual, Chaifur Rahman has become a candidate. His symbol-dab. He continues to preach alone with a hand mic in his armpit. Poster leaflets are nothing. But the speech is diagonal. The rest of the candidates are being weighed. One such evening in Tilagarh, Sylhet, he was attacked by some pandas of another candidate.

The next day the news spread throughout the city. Ordinary people were upset. Ah! Absolutely an ordinary man, what was the need to bully him?

On the same afternoon, the first procession came out after the school holidays at the initiative of the students of Sylhet Pilot School. After the procession came in front of Rajaskul in Bandarbazar through Laldighi road, the boys of Rajaskul also joined. Yes, the rest is history. At that moment, it became news all over the city. In the evening, the procession started from the neighborhood in support of the dab marker of Chaifur. Absolutely non-partisan procession of people. In front of the shops in the neighborhood, the whole dab was hanging. The rickshaw pullers got stuck in a traffic jam and started shouting loudly, dab, dab! That slogan echoed like Mexican waves moving from one street to another. Many press owners printed as many as two thousand posters and pasted them in their areas. The clubs and associations of the neighborhood started campaigning by setting up offices on their own initiative.

The situation was such that it became difficult to get an appointment to bring Chaifur Rahman to the election meeting.

Chaifur Rahman was a heroic freedom fighter. The local Muktijoddha Sangsad left their office as the election campaign office in Chaifur. The boys in the neighborhood have taken the initiative of his election public meeting. But if you want to bring it there, you have to go to the main office and come in advance with 500 rupees, otherwise Chaifur Rahman will not come! Because, his cooking has stopped. If you want to choose full time, you need family expenses.

I think he is the only candidate who has to pay the opposite amount to bring him to the election rally.

On the day of the election, the people witnessed a great surprise. Awami League candidate Iftekhar Hossain Shamim defended the bail. And the bail of all the others including Major Zia's party was confiscated. Awami League candidate Iftekhar Hossain Shamim got 52,000 votes for the dab symbol and six thousand for the Chakka symbol.

In one center of South Surma, Chaifur Rahman got 1800+ votes. Butterfly brand in the second place in that center got 1 vote.

One more surprise happened on election day. At almost every polling station, people put money in the ballot box along with the dub marker ballot.

After the election, the name of Chaifur Rahman fell to six Chaifur. He accepted the title with a smile and said that people gave this name after beating sixes in the election.

Chakka Chaifur was successful as the upazila chairman. His main focus was to fix primary school education. Hutt used to attend primary schools in any remote area. If the teacher was absent, he would protest. At that time the primary schools were mostly under the control of the Upazila Parishad.

However, Chaifur Rahman has to take the challenge because of the chairmen of different union councils. He was uncompromising in stopping the corruption of the Union Parishad. The ministry suspended his upazila chairmanship as far as I can remember when the enraged chairmen united and proposed no-confidence motion against him. Later, when the BNP came to power in 1991 and abolished the Upazila Parishad, the short-term representation of Chakka Chayfur came to an end.

He collected some money to spend on one election. But the election did not take place for any reason. But Chayfur came back to that historic courtpoint to return the people's money to the people. He came and said, ‘You gave me some money to run the election. But since the election is not taking place; So I want to get your money back. ’People were very happy and said,‘ We don’t want to get your money back; You take these. '

He had his first public meeting at the registry ground when he was elected as the upazila chairman. Thousands of people flock. There is no place to store sesame. He thanked everyone at the outset and said, "I had two wheelbarrows at the beginning of my election. The family did not leave so I brought a lot. And you don't even have a place to sit in my house. When I get the relief consignment, I will pick up some space from there and make your place if you allow me. '

Then thousands of people laughed together and said, 'I gave permission'.

He also wrote a few short books. Barbuchi wants to be president, ‘Read, Understand, Say’ is his most talked about book.

Due to lack of it, he has also sailed the boat. But his words remain in people's hearts.

Towards the end of his life, this great man went on a hunger strike on the verandah of the Sylhet DC office to demand medical expenses and also demanded it. Fighting eternal poverty, this man left the world. Our humble homage to this simple-hearted social revolutionary.
