On May 14, 1948, with the direct help of Britain and the United States, the illegitimate state of Israel declared independence as a poison in the nostrils of the Arabs. Naturally, the Arabs are not supposed to accept that

As a result, the next day, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq joined forces to wage war against Israel. That was the first Arab-Israeli war. To the Jews it was known as the War of Independence.

From there the national catastrophe of Palestine began. That is why they call this day 'Nakba' or disaster. About 7.5 million Palestinians have fled to neighboring countries. The Jewish forces evicted them from their homes.

The United Nations, however, tried to mediate In 1947, the newly established United Nations proposed the division of Palestine between Arabs and Jews. According to the proposal, the United Nations would give the Palestinians only 45 percent of the total land and the remaining 55 percent to the Jews.

The Arabs did not accept it for good reason. As a result, war became inevitable. The territory allocated by the United Nations to establish a separate state for the Arabs in Palestine, half of which went to Israel or the Jews after the first Arab-Israeli war.

But it was the first war between the Arabs and the Israelis and the beginning of a long-running conflict between them.

From 1948 to 1973, Israel was at war with the Arab states in four phases After the declaration of Israel's independence in 1948 with the First World War, the Second World War with the Suez Canal in 1956, then in 1978, then in 1973, with the last Gazans on July 7, 2014.

But every time Israel wins with the support of the Western world and at the same time the Arabs lose control over a huge area.

# First_Arab_Israel_War (May 15, 1948 - January 9, 1949): -

The first Arab-Israeli war in history began on 15 May, the day after the declaration of independence, when Israel, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq and Trans-Jordan joined forces to attack Israel without taking into account Israeli forces.

The Arab forces were inferior in number and efficiency to the Israeli Haganah (a secret Jewish organization backed by the British). The combined Arab forces could not cope with the advanced weapons and skilled army.

However, in the early days of the war, the Arab countries were showing great success. But in the end it did not last long. At the time, a guerrilla organization called the Arab Liberation Army was formed under the auspices of the Arab League, but it was not strong enough to stand up against the newly formed state of Israel. As a result, the first stage of the war ended with the defeat of the Arabs

As a result of the war, Israel was able to hold on to the territory proposed by the United Nations. As well as West Jerusalem,

Established by over 80% of the proposed Arab states, including Tel Aviv and parts of the West Bank. Transjordan maintains control over the remaining West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Egyptian troops occupy the Gaza Strip.

It did not establish an Arab Palestinian state. All sides except the Iraqis and the Palestinians signed a ceasefire agreement.

The conflict has led to major changes in the Middle East. Palestine was divided into one part Israel and the other part Palestine without administration The day of misery of the Arabs began in the newly divided Palestine On the other hand, with the help of the United States and Britain, Israel became more powerful in arms and power.

Israel continues to occupy the rest of the Palestinian territories by subjugating the Palestinian state to which the state of Israel was formed. Without guilt, without provocation, Israel began massacring innocent Palestinians.

Other Muslim countries in the Middle East, backed by the Americans, have failed to make much of an impact on the Palestinian issue.

# Second_Arab_Israel_War (October 29, 1958 - November 8, 1956): -

In 1958, Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser came to power and closed the Suez Canal to Britain, France and Israel to free Egypt from foreign influence. Outraged, Israel, led by Defense Minister Moshe Diane, invaded Egypt on October 29, 1958, by air and land. The second phase of the Arab-Israeli war centered on the nationalization of the Suez Canal.

In history it is also known as the Suez War. This war did not last long. They had to leave Egypt in the face of intense pressure and criticism from the outside world. Israel accepted the ceasefire mainly under the threat of the Soviet Union and Russia The Suez Canal remains in Egypt The Arabs escaped, but Israeli forces killed about 6,000 Egyptians.

# Third_Arab_Israel_War (June 5-10, 1967): -

The Arab countries could not forget the shame of losing to Israel in the last two wars. On the other hand, Israel also realized that its neighboring Arab countries would not remain silent, they could try to attack again. Basically both sides were preparing for a bloody war.

Israel focuses on building an efficient army to increase its military strength. In the wake of this they recruited a massive manpower into the army and moved closer to acquiring nuclear power. Israel also purchased warplanes and tanks from France and Britain in the 1960s. So Israel could not think of any kind of defeat.

On the other hand, Egypt and Syria did not pay much attention to military power.

The glory of closing the Suez Canal made Gamal Abdul Nasser forget about the 1948 defeat. Nasser then led Pan-Arab nationalism. There was not much focus on building the army.

Meanwhile, the third phase of the war began on June 5, 1968, in the context of the continuing bitterness between the Arabs and Israel and the minor clashes on the border. Israel has launched a surprise attack on the Sinai Peninsula, targeting Egypt, to destroy Arab air defenses after an Egyptian military rally on the Israeli border.

In history, this war is known as the Six Day War or the June War.

The consequences of the third Arab-Israeli war between Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Syria from June 5 to 10 were far-reaching. In the six-day war, the Arabs lost shamefully to the Israeli forces Due to the defeat, the Arab forces had to pay a heavy price

Egypt lost 10,000-15,000 troops and Jordan lost about 6,000. Israel, on the other hand, lost 1,000 fighters and 47 aircraft

For the first time since the Six-Day War, Jerusalem is under full Israeli control. Many Palestinians were deported from there Israeli forces have seized Gaza and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria.

As a result, the new Israel is three times larger than the old Israel.

Analysts, however, attribute the defeat to Arab disunity in the Middle East and Nasser's ignorance of the war.

The end of the six-day UN-brokered war has not ended the Arab-Israeli conflict, but rather Israel's dominance in the Middle East.

After the 1967 war, Yasser Arafat formed an anti-Israel organization called the PLO (Palestine Liberation Organization) to carry out guerrilla activities.

# Fourth_Arab_Israel_War (October 6-24, 1973): -

After the death of Colonel Nasser in 1973, Anwar Sadat came to power in Egypt. Egypt and Syria were united under his leadership. The Arabs crossed the Suez Canal to reclaim their lost territory, the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights, violating the Barlev Line (one of the world's most defensive defenses in Israel) and entering the Sinai Valley in a surprise attack that the Israelis could not have imagined.

Displaced by a surprise attack by the Arabs, the Israeli army, skilled in tactical tactics, quickly equipped the group and launched a counter-attack. The fourth Arab-Israeli war in history lasted for 17 days from 6 to 24 October This war is known in history as the 'October War' or the 'War of Yom Kippur'.

The Arab forces were initially successful in the war

In the end, victory was not written in their destiny. Arab economic forces were forced to retreat due to US economic and military assistance

In protest, the Arabs cut off oil exports to Israel-backed countries and took a stand against them. Considering the overall situation, the then US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger decided to suspend military operations in the Sinai Peninsula and the Golan Heights in Syria.

The war finally ended on October 25, with the mediation of the Soviet Union and the United States and the intervention of the United Nations.

The amount of casualties in the fourth Arab-Israeli war was huge The Arabs lost 6,000 to 17,000, 16,000 to 35,000 wounded, more than 6,000 prisoners of war, more than 2,000 tanks and 350-500 aircraft destroyed, and 19 warships sank. Two and a half thousand Israelis were killed, seven and a half to nine thousand wounded, 293 prisoners of war, 406 tanks destroyed and 102 warplanes destroyed.

Six years after the war, the historic treaty was signed in 1967. As the first Arab state, Egypt signed the Camp David Peace Treaty with Israel.

Egypt's defeated President Anwar Sadat and Israel's Prime Minister Menachem Begin signed the Camp David Accords at the White House. Through this agreement, Israel returned their occupied Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and established autonomy in that area. Then Jordan followed in their footsteps.
