Due to the inability to obtain authorization for Google Mobile Services, Huawei cannot update Google's applications on its Android phones. Therefore, the expiration of the temporary license means that Huawei phones manufactured for the international market after August 13, 2020 will not be allowed to use the Android operating system. But Huawei launched its own Hongmeng operating system in August last year to replace the Android system.

In May 2019, the US Department of Commerce included Huawei on the "Entity List" on the grounds of "national security threats." U.S. suppliers, including Google’s internal suppliers, are prohibited from doing business with Huawei. However, the US Department of Commerce government has granted a large number of US companies but after six extensions, the temporary license expired on August 13 this year. The US government did not extend the temporary permit again. Foreign technology media reported that the Android system of Huawei phones may stop updating or shut down directly.

According to reports, due to the inability to obtain authorization for Google's mobile services, Huawei was unable to update Google's applications on its Android phones. In general, the expiration of the temporary license means that Huawei phones produced for the international market after August 13, 2020 will permanently use the Android operating system. But Huawei launched its own Hongmeng operating system in August last year to replace the Android system.

Although the old model produced before the "entity list" ban took effect was allowed to use Google's Android operating system and receive updates, foreign media believe it is skeptical. Foreign media believe that after the US government’s temporary license expires, Huawei phones sold before the “entity list” may no longer be able to obtain a license for Google’s mobile services.

Foreign media believe that the temporary license may still be extended because the license was originally approved to help rural telecommunications companies in the United States. Some of these companies use Huawei equipment in the network. After all, in addition to becoming the world's largest mobile phone manufacturer, the US government hopes to cooperate with these rural telecommunications companies to dismantle and replace Huawei's equipment. The U.S. Department of Commerce stated in a statement that the initial provision of the temporary license is to provide opportunities for telecom operators using Huawei equipment to continue to temporarily operate these equipment and existing networks while replacing their communications equipment suppliers.

According to reports, there are still some, but rural telecom operators in the United States have not yet estimated from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that these small equipment companies will spend US$1.89 billion to remove Huawei equipment from 3G and 4G networks, and it may take longer It will take up to two years to complete this work.
