The book titled BATAAN DIARY (2010) is a compilation of articles about Bataan and the 12 cities that make up it.
Almost all of the articles that appear here have been researched and have been fully authored by the author since 2006.
It will be noted that much of the history of the Philippines, particularly of Bataan, returned to ashes due to the atrocities caused by the previous World War II (1941-1945). This is the real reason why in 1951 President Elpidio Quirino ordered the collection and reconstruction of reports, books and publications relating to the lost history of every community in the country.
In 1953, during Victor de Leon's acting superintendent of the Bataan Schools Division, they were able to produce and publish a book titled HISTORY OF THE CHILDREN PROVINCE.
It was not easy to rebuild the lost history of Bataan as most documents confirming the truth were consumed after government buildings in the towns, including the old Balanga Capitol were burned by bombs dropped by the a Japanese plane that carried out a massacre in Bataan.
It was clear that the people involved in the project, especially the senior teachers of the schools, started out of nowhere. They did not do much of the research and research in any part of our history because the National Library itself, as well as the National Archive in Manila suffered significant damage during the war.
Despite the shortcomings mentioned, this did not cause our heroic teachers to become discouraged. Together, they worked hard and worked hard to research all the possible areas of our lost history. They talk to people who remember the past. Their only concern is that our history needs to be shaped in some way. this is just what we always think of our beloved teachers as they shape such a project.
In other ways, researchers have succeeded in their great cause. They have even produced a book from the proceeds of the document that proves our colorful past.
But clearly HISTORY OF THE CHILDREN PROVINCE is not enough to say that all the lost history of the province has been recorded. There is much that is missing.
In fact, the author has recently found another book that will provide an additional account of Bataan history. This book is entitled "HISTORICAL SKETCH OF THE CHILDREN AND HER CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE PROGRESS OF THE PHILIPPINES".
It was written by Atty. Eulogio Balan Rodriguez, a former National Librarian of the Philippines in the war. He is from Orani, Bataan and has served as chief of the old National Library. The book was published in 1916, during the time of former Governor Maximino delos Reyes (1912-1916).
With the help of two of the aforementioned books and other publications related to Bataan, the "CHILD DIARY" was formed. The original notes of Victor de Leon and Eulogio B. Rodriguez are just added to the new information to make the new "Bataan Diary" more timely and enjoyable for everyone.
What about the additional information I mentioned?
The folklore of Abukay, for example, is discussed in the book HISTORY OF THE CHILDREN PROVINCE ...
“… It is clearly stated that the name Abukay is derived from the terms
'Ash' and 'crushed' which in English means 'digging the debris resulting from a fire.' "
No one can deny that this is just a myth or a myth and no logic can be trusted. It's just like creating rain in times of drought.
Usually, this type of fiction is only strongly supported by anyone who has published a publication and is considered to be a scholar of history. They do not take into account that any publication, even if it is all a lie, is often regarded as factual, especially if the book has been printed and read by people.
In modern times, such myths have no place in society. What the present and the next generation need is truth in order to serve as their guide in leading a righteous path.
In the BATAAN DIARY, the author has given greater importance to the origin of each town in Bataan. Almost all of the stories you read in this book are based on logic and evidence. Then Compare the Contents Beginning with the old Myths also found in this book.
Try to spend some time reading this new book.
